I think we are right in the mix for a relegation spot. My main reasons are our inability to create chances coupled with the other team's now all starting to look better than us. Bournemouth are creating chances as are Southampton (thankfully Che Adams keeps missing them) The two new lads should help with moving the ball forward and, hopefully, creating better quality chances.

It’s hugely disappointing that we are having to debate this issue at all, given where we were 12 months ago. My perception now is that the club just want to hold onto PL status as cheaply as possible, survive this season and then have a financial reset in the summer when we have a number of players coming to the end of their contracts. If that’s the case then it’s frustrating not only for us fans, but the manager as well. It becomes a test of nerve, and some people are all doom and gloom already. And that’s after a really tough run of fixtures. Performances have shown some improvement of late but our lack of composure in front of goal is hurting us. I think we will be ok, but it feels like a Roy type slog to 40 points albeit with a radically different playing style I think this is spot on. I just hope we can hold on, and that any financial reset involves huge investment. Unfortunately I am not tgat confident on either issue

A particular favourite of mine was route one against Manchester United whereby Guaita punted a long ball for Schlupp to head on into the path of Ayew who calmly side footed past a hapless De Gea, marvellous.

What you mean is that you want a wealthy person or persons to splurge their money on big transfer fees and excessive player wages to give us a team that we can enjoy watching - a few of us even buying a ticket for the privilege of doing so. Where do you hope this money will come from?

As I wrote on the Man Utd match thread, trying to play stylish possession based football is all very commendable, but you need the right players to do it. This team has not got enough of them to do it successfully. PV may have taken the job on the basis that he change the style of football, but this disregards the lack of adequate recruitment of such players needed. A good manager works with what he is given. Roy did so for 4 years with almost no backing in the transfer market. After only a week, Dyche has turned a disorganised collection of players at Everton into a team that beat the previously almost unstoppable league leaders. He previously took Burnley into Europe. Many sneer at the style these type of managers employ, but it’s pragmatic and gets results even if not pretty. I think PV is too influenced by his time at Man City, where they do have the quality of players to play the expansive passing style of football. Trying to impose that on the squad at Palace is just not working often enough. Sure, there is the odd game when it comes together, but overall results show it’s not sufficient. Swansea tried and ultimately failed to use this approach to stay in the Premier. FDB had similar ideas and look how that turned out. Turning the clock way back, Malcolm Allison had grand ideas of expansive football being played by Palace. I remember he even wanted to widen the pitch at Selhurst to give more room for passing down the wings. He was a highly regarded coach that also coincidentally had spent a successful spell at Man City. It was all a fine and commendable ambition, but again didn’t match the capabilities of the players at his disposal. Sure there were exciting times when it occasionally all came together, such as the FA Cup run in 1976, but ultimately what Allison achieved were successive relegations from the First Division/Premier to the Third Division/League One. He then failed two years in a row to get promoted back out of the third tier. Now I know this was back in the 1970s and many will say it’s ancient history. But as the saying goes ‘those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it’ and if the current board and management continue the way they are it could all happen over again. Apologies, but late to this party. I cant argue with any point, save that we are in a completely different world to the 70s. The Premiership is very, very big business. And to sell to the world, you have to play entertaining football. Our style is not good enough for the top half but good enough to beat most teams below us. The results are proving that. Mid table, entertaining fare, that will draw viewers and money. Very risky, of course, but what isn't? Everton have chucked vast sums at the task and have been compelled to revert to dull pragmatism just to survive. I prefer our model.

Unfortunately I am not tgat confident on either issue I also like his post save I don't agree the fault has been a lack of composure in front of goal. Man City attack wave after wave with the best strikers in the game, yet may only score 2 goals in 90 + mins. Not all attacks end in goals. Our strikers get a hard time on here but watch the bloody games. They have to feed on scraps or, sometimes, nothing at all. We are simply not passing enough/any decent balls to them to exercise their composure. There is almost no point in playing strikers unless you have a midfield competent to supply through some of the world's best defences. We have brilliant, exciting forward midfielders; but none able to produce that killer pass with any consistency. I hope the new boys can improve that. Otherwise, my priority for the summer alongside RB.

It looks between Leeds and us for the third relegation spot IMO. We've not been good enough in too many areas of the pitch and I think the fixation that many had with finding a midfield partner for Doucoure was a bit of white elephant. We're neither creating enough chances and look crap at converting the ones that come our way. At the other end we're not so bad defensively but not tight enough to gloss over the other inadequacies.

why no striker during transfer window? They go everywhere else but Palace! I think we're back to the Championship and we will struggle there too. The players don't seem interested and neither do I! Should have got Spence and Moura. We get 2 new midfield players and leave them out of Man U game. Should have just thrown them in as we had no chance of winning anyway! With Dyche, Everton will stay up.

I will wait to see how our two new players Ahamada and Lokonga fit in before consigning us to the Championship. Sometimes just a couple of tweeks and changes can make all the difference. Fingers crossed.
