I said to my wife over a tipple the other night that in my humble opinion, Vieira will not last the entirety of his contract.
Either he will be a failure and be relieved of his duties or he will prove a real success and be prised away by a bigger club.
My instinct of course might be proved wrong.

Stating the obvious..

It's a bit premature to talk about a man who's never managed in England being poached?

If he does get to the position where clubs want him, then the club would presumably be having a great season.

If we are doing well in the league, we'll be in a stronger position to find a replacement.

Our last 3 managers to be poached (Freedman, Dowie, and Bruce) all left the club in a much better position than they inherited it.

Got off to a great start. There is no doubt that PV is a big man in world football and carries huge cudos from junior players. Looks like we are going to have a very exciting rebuild.

If you watch the video of Vieiera taking training you will see quite a few of our juniors training in the first team squad. Scott Banks is back , Acki Raki and the big Irish lad. Amongst others. Worth a look over on the COFC website.

Isn't Acki Raki a Jamaican fruit?

He is also a big man physically and towered over Michael Olise in the official photos

I have just checked the respective heights of the players.
Olise is 5ft 10ins and Vieira towers over him at 6ft 4ins.

I don't think his sexuality's got anything to do with it

He is a great signing for us. People are saying another FDB, but no comparison, FDB had no Premier experience at all and by all accounts was an arrogant git. Vieira captained the unbeatables and had a long successful career in the Premier. He has been coaching and managing for 9 years, so has experience. If you compare him to Cooper, who we nearly ended up with, who do you think the players would have more rspect for Cooper or Vieira?
By all accounts he is a modest down to earth bloke, he needs to be given a chance to build his team. A change was needed, thats what we have got.

As previously mentioned great post.

Vieira will need time and initially i wasn't overly excited by the appointment but a few things are becoming apparent quite quickly.
He clearly knows the English game very well so knows the type of player that will thrive at this level.

He may not have managed in England but has contacts at Arsenal and Man City which should be of benefit.

And finally but perhaps most importantly he is a very respected name in the game and that will get us a few transfers. I notice Olise has played for France u18s. When a French world cup winner calls you that is priceless.

He seems to have assessed the squad quite quickly - how long have we said we need a younger winger option and he has resolved it within a week.

With respect, Olise has been on our radar for some time.
In terms of being a winger, he is capable of playing wide on the right and cutting inside but at Reading he has primarily played behind the striker.

He is a real 'Steal' at £8 Million.
