3 weeks have passed since anyone posted anything about what is probably the most important election of recent times. I wonder why that is? With the first debate due tomorrow and the NYT publishing their expose on Trump's tax returns, which confirms the many rumours and hard information available in jurisdictions like our own where Company returns are public, there are going to be many questions to be answered. With Trump trotting out his lame, and overused response, that this is "fake news" and that the IRS are very unfair on him this, isn't going to play well. Pelosi skewered him today by suggesting he was a potential national security risk as it seems he has covered 0 million of debt with his personal guarantees. Being an indebted businessman and then being POTUS has it's consequences, and those questions are going to hit the headlines. The teflon President will have a hard time rinsing this stain away. When nurses and firefighters are paying more tax than someone like Trump they are not going to be very forgiving, especially at the moment. Tuesday night will be fun. Problem is we all know every politician lines there pockets publishing tax returns dont prove they ain't lining there pockets in other ways so the pretending thar Democrats are moral and trump isn't is a lie. All I know is Dems are probably going to cause a war like they usually do and the system will revert back to how its always been before trump robbing everyone but with a smile on there face instead. That being said I still think trump will win.

I know we have internet, but we get very little meaningful coverage on the TV in the UK of the US election. Quite difficult to gauge campaigns and public opinion from partisan media sources.

America was a country founded on not paying their taxes. Unlike the UK, any major figure who doesn't will get a a thumbs up from a large number of voters who think it's their birth right to avoid taxes.

The problem as always with Trump is he's previously made grandiose statements about how much tax he's paid, and taken potshots about Obama only paying 20.5% on his earnings whilst President. Flash forward to these records being released and hes been paying pennies, or actually nothing at all. On top of that he's been wrangling it to the cost of the American taxpayer with dubious deductibles for his hair, or paying his children as 'consultants'. So he's either been on the take, or is a horrendous businessman who's up to his eyeballs in debt. Partisanship will mean this does nothing to change opinions.

Bigger issue is how these records leaked. You would assume that the President of the USA would have his own records pretty much ring-fenced. At the heart of a machine which he heads up. And yet they leak.... Big forces at play here trying to bring down Trump. Start buying shares in defence companies. Possible that a lot of innocent brown people are going to need killing in the coming 4 years.

Or, more reasonably, some genuinely patriotic people see how hypocritical, and how dangerous, his Presidency is, have risked their futures and possibly even their lives by revealing what they know. Trump isn't draining the swamp. He is mired in the middle of one of his own making. How they leaked is by far not the biggest issue. It's what impact, if any, the leak will have.

Leaked just before the first debate. Direct election interference....huge hypocrisy from the usual slimes.

Trump was asking for a drugs test for Biden. All he needed to ask is that someone 'forgets' the extension cord for Biden's life support.

Stand by for more wars if he loses. You are clearly blind to what was going on in the US before he was elected.

They are not actually interested in stopping the wars because when they do kick off, the supposed 'opposing' them is a lot more fun.

Do you genuinely believe any rich people in any country of the world, pay their fair share of taxes? How can you leak something everybody who isn't totally ignorant already knows. I hardly think we have the whole of Trump's accounts so it's still mostly just supposition. I don't suppose that he has several companies to siphon his taxes through - for example the way Crystal Palace and Steve Parish do? Are you going to condemn them? Albeit, I wish there weren't so many tax loopholes for the rich and for corporations. In lesser news, the EU is appealing the Apple tax case with Ireland: about the only thing I would support the EU on.

I heard that the bigger picture isn"t that trump doesn"t pay tax, it"s the fact that he was left £400 million - or $ 400 million. and has blown most of it on failed schemes, like his golf course/hotel effort. He has apparently claimed he was left $1 million by his father and made the rest as a successful businessman, but in fact was left it all and is leaking it badly, making him a fantasist- who knew?
