I suppose The Boston Strangler was the first 'celeb' one but from memory ever since i saw 'M' aged about 14 (what a fvcking movie that is) the workings behind their evil has been nothing less than fascinating as has been the total fvck-ups and bureaucracy by law enforcement agencies that allowed many to get away with it for so long. Yep, looking at you Mr Bundy. Gacy is the scariest though.

There are some that just don't have the ability to cut an interesting tale. Shipman, for example, good for numbers, but no art. Same with some of the US mafia guys who arguably were serial killers - sell outs. The Coldplay of Murder. Feel the same with Aileen Wuornos, convenience killer (although Monster and the Broomfield documentary are excellent, its a poor serial killer story).

It's always been disappointing for me that Shipman was re-branded a "serial killer" to a "medical killer" in all of the killing leagues. Despite being a somewhat boring murderer, he was flying the flag for Great Britain. Bundy and Dahmer are right up there in the glamour stakes. Also a fan of the Wests, not for the killings themselves so much, but more their f**ked up backgrounds and attitude towards parenting.

Also I think Jack The Ripper's celebrity career was hampered by the lack of lighting in London at the time.

Oh, we've digressed again. Sorry OP! But yeah, love a good Rose West yarn I once worked at the same company as the Wests' daughter Mae. I was introduced to here at a social event, "This is Mae West". "Mae West? Your father must have a sense of humour" I said. "Yes, he has" she said. She was a pleasant girl, no hint of what must have been going on at home.
