Don’t go Kouyate.

Firstly I thought Kouyate was a vital player for us last season and there’s nothing he can’t do to a decent standard. I personally thought he was quite a calming influence in defence as he’s clearly comfortable on the ball but no stranger to a challenge.

That being said…

We paid just 8m for him. And he doesn’t currently fit our new wage structure. 4m upfront and getting rid of his wages represents a deal where we nearly get our money back so the deal does have some merit.

I’d rather he stayed but this rumour has been live since the end of last season so I think his Turkish links have been actively seeking this deal on his behalf.

Another thing to consider is whether Kouyate will play much 1st team football for us next season? If we do sign Andersen then he’d be down to 4th choice at centre back IMO and back to competing for a place in midfield which he wasn’t always able to break into on a regular basis.

I hope he stays, but if he does go he’s been great for Palace and I’m sure there would be good reasons behind his departure.

Just been named in the starting lineup against Charlton and also given the captaincy. That doesn’t suggest he will be leaving any time soon.

Can't really argue with any of this. Kouyate was absolutely essential for us the past two seasons. His versatility would be missed because he provides cover for multiple positions.

However, if the Andersen deal becomes official, and we are fortunate enough to get Gallagher on loan, then I believe we have sufficient cover at CB (Guehi, Andersen, Tomkins) and CM (Gallagher, Jairo, Luka?) to where Kouyate would be redundant.

He was a great signing and surpassed my expectations but it makes a lot of sense to get something for him before his contract expires.

We need more than just 'solid performers' if we are to progress.

So what you going to spend the massive 4m on then? With that money he is not replaceable.
Rebuilding takes time. Only an idiot would rip up the entire team immediatly and unnecessarily. Right now he is contracted to us and we are under no pressure to sell.
Its a no brainer. He stays.

Depends on the clubs point of view but if we are not going to use him much this season then the wages and the fee take this to around 7.5m recouped/saved. It’s not a massive amount when you consider the fees we are currently paying but it would certainly soften a deal for a permanent signing or the 4m alone would cover any loan fee we needed to pay for a year long loan deal. If he’s not staying past the next 12 months I can see the merit in putting the cash towards a loan for Gallagher for example.

Agree.

Unless he is very unsettled and desperately wants to leave.

Coz the big move across London must be hard. I have stated elsewhere that having a countryman at the helm will possibly provide CK with a more responsible involvement. I don't think he will captain the side, but I think he will be as good as.

4 more years Cheikou!!!!

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

I see HITC are reporting the Trabzonspor in Turkey have made a bid of €2m for our 'Ivory Coast' player

Gotta love 'click-bait'

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

The only way he should go is if he doesn't think he will be getting regular football under PV.

We should keep him as he's been a good servant I hope he realises that it's exciting times at the Palace and far better than the Turkish league.

He's on £70k a week. No club in Turkey could afford those wages.

If he goes i suspect it will be next summer on a free
