Disagree with all of this. I’m backing Luka. Multiple players have spoken of his leadership qualities. He’s bang in the thick of it every week and I’m hoping working with PV will reinvigorate his form. Based on his performances in the last 2 years, Luka shouldn’t be anywhere near the 1st team let alone be the captain. If we can convince Wilf to end his career at Palace by signing another contract, he should be skipper. Best player and will play 90mins every week. He played some of his best football at the start of last season when he was captain.

Forgive me for taking Hodgson and the players’ word over yours. You gave your opinion and I gave you mine. It’s what this forum is about. While we are on the subject perhaps you would like to give me the qualities that you think makes him a good captain?

i would be more than happy to see luca keep the armband…he is a fantastic player & leader. however as arsenal fans used to sing, PV is from senegal so maybe he has close ties & trust in kouyate. either way im happy.

But that's what a forum's for I guess.

Luka's head has not been in the game for a while. Last season he repeatedly made stupid mistakes and his focus seemed to be an issue. Having said that, he still has one of the best passing ranges in the team when he is focused and is one of the few players who seems to actually talk. If we take Luka out of the equation then I think McArthur is worth a shout. Bright was talking in the commentary yesterday about what a good communicator he is, he has a fighting spirit, but doesn't get involved in handbags. Whoever the captain is, it will be important we have leaders on the pitch. Captain or not, Wilf demands his team mates raise their game and as annoying as it might be he will let them know if he thinks they're not doing enough, or they are doing it "wrong". I think that is a big issue when he doesn't play as the other forwards barely seem to open their mouths.

I cannot believe I am seeing people advocate Wilf for captain! Seriously? Just because someone is a good player DOES NOT make them good captain material. He is easily wound up and petulant. If he was captain who would he listen to to tell him to calm down when he is having a go at the ref when he has gone over. Just think how many times you have seen a palace player having to get between Wilf and the ref and push Wilf away before he gets a silly booking or even sent off! Wilf for captain is probably one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen on here.....and there has been some stiff competition.

I can't believe that there's one person not been mentioned. Has been with us for 9 years now and just signed a two year contract. Gives 100% every game and has been very reliable over the years. He seems such a leader on the pitch, also has stopped zaha a few times more than most when he gets angry. Im sure you can guess who from this. In my opinion would be a great captain.

Yeah I'm just not sure he's captain material. Seems quite timid and just happy to put his head down and do his job. Not sure he's a leader of an army type thing. For me, it stays with Luka, or goes to McArthur/Tomkins.

Agree Wilf doesn't really need to be our captain, but those suggesting Luka should start while Wilf is sold off must WANT us to get relegated.
