Chat on Twitter is that a deal for Victor Nelsson is close to being done @ £12M plus add ons. Also chat about Reiss Nelson - so potentially a double Nelson..!! If we do sign Reiss Nelson would suggest to me that Zaha is going as we’d then have Olise, Nelson, Sakyi, Ayew and then depending on what happens on contract renewal Townsend as wide options. I personally would be fine with that - Wilf clearly wants to go and Olise, Nelson and Sakyi much younger and offer an exciting future without all the Wilf baggage, moaning and histrionics. Don’t get me wrong I love Wilf - IMO in the top 3 players to ever have played for us - alongside Sansom and Wright. But he’s either committed to Palace and this current very exciting rebuilding phase or he ain’t. If he ain’t then fine - thanks for the memories and good luck Wilf, but time for us to move on and look/build for the future. Still think you’ll see Connor Gallagher coming in - Flynn Downes is also a good shout providing he’s over his injury - don’t want another Nathan Ferguson scenario. Because of the injury to Ferguson we need another right back - personally I think Jayden Bogle would be a good shout. I know we’ve got Mitchell and Hannam - but still think we need some experience - Ryan Bertrand available on a free? Even if Nelsson signs still think we need another centre back - we don’t need to complete this rebuild in one window. So personally I’d resign Cahill - didn’t let us down last year and his experience would be good and an asset for PV with so many youngsters potentially coming into the squad. Then you’ve got the rumors around Morgan Rogers - don’t know a lot about him, but a lot of observers suggesting a very good prospect and obviously PV would know him from City. Then you’ve got others like Riedewald who may blossom under PV - Scott Banks similarly. Then others that will be pushing from the successful u18 and u23 squads. Just some thoughts..!! All very interesting and exciting..!! Come on Viera and COYP..!!
Like you, just my thoughts and like you exciting times ahead. Edited by doombear (09 Jul 2021 8.13pm)

We seem to assume that Guaita will be in goal. I'm not so sure. PV wants his teams to play out from the back and it will be interesting to see how our two keepers handle that in the friendlies. Just wondering whether Butland might be the better option with that style of play.

Way too much change. Would like the see the nucleus of last year’s team, with three or four changes that make us stronger.

I know that you have problems with the English language but "I am informed" is trying to imply that you are in the know and I am surprised that you are claiming to have been informed by a "learned gentleman" as most barristers don't have much interest in Crystal Palace That's right. 'Informed' comes from 'information', which is defined as facts learned or provided about something or someone. If you deny providing a fact, you should have said 'I've been told' or I've heard'. ME's got you there Willo.

But we know that there are almost certainly going to be more than four changes this season. A whole starting XI has basically been released on frees. If Roy was still in charge and that happened, I would be concerned. If a manager that played a similar style to Roy was in charge and that happened, I would be concerned... But where we are going to be making a drastic change in style anyway, I'm less concerned about the chopping up of the team. Regardless, it is expected to happen, with the noises coming out of the club.

I'm finding it pretty hard to work out exactly what we need. I'm thinking we need two CDs, a central midfielder and one, maybe two wingers at least. We're OK up front: Benteke, Ayew, Mateta. Am I missing something? I could easily be forgetting someone. As I think about it I had forgotten Banks, but the question doesn't change really.
