The "Gone" players totaled only 49 league starts last season and Dann contributed 1 Goal and 1 and PVA 1 assist. We have gaps, probably in common with over 50% of Premier League clubs, but not a lot worse than where we were last season taking injuries into account. To put that into perspective, that's 11.7% of league starts ie 418. Edited by YT (02 Jul 2021 7.11pm)

YT Fair enough but effectively nearly 90% of last years starts still in contract. We will have lost PVA (adequately covered by Mitchell), Dann(good servant but only used when no other CBs available) and McCarthy. The rest just cost us money so are a benefit to have lost. We have injuries, as usual and common in other clubs, but will cope. We might lose Wilf, but the way he has been playing we might not notice, especially when Eze returns. A few new signings could help, but many were happy when we signed Sakho, how did that work out?

I'm sure PV will have an excellent knowledge of our squad, and will be gaining further insight from those more established at the club, but these early training sessions will give him some greater indication and perspective of the willing, ability and fitness of those out of contract. If they want to be offered new terms, this period will be like a trial for them. Obviously a few will be retained and some released, but they will all be at training; if nothing else so they might hit the ground running at new places of employment.

Does anyone know whether our previously long term injured, (Jimmy Mc, Ferguson, Tomkins), are fully recovered now? I appreciate that Eze is anticipated to be out until the new year.

I seem to recall that someone here bumped into Jimmy Mc who told him that he had recovered but wouldn't play until the new season just to make sure

Don't think the out of contract players will be training due to insurance not being liable, i wouldn't if i was one of them, an injury and there stuffed
