Pay Burnley the 5 mil compo for Dyche. Could be money well spent. He is more suited to us and could probably work with the basics fo our squad whilst adding within our apparently small budget

If it is true then surely he is the right player to bring the young players through, the 100k a week mistakes are over, he didn't fail at Derby just because he lost the play offs, Cocu/Rooney have failed, Wilf should be sold even at 15m, there is enough younger players, to build a good team and he would attract a lot of the younger players, Gallagher. Tomori. Abraham bought or on loan, in my opinion it is the perfect signing Thank goodness you are not the manager

My concern over Lampard- if it turns out to be true- is how well equipped he would be to handle a relegation dog fight. I could well envisage a scenario, similar to Chelsea, whereby any sense of pragmatism goes out of the window with the inevitable end result. Also, as others have mentioned, his handling of players seemed to leave something to be desired at Chelsea and the change in their fortunes since he left has been amazing.

Our youth aren't good enough for the Premier League so you would like to appoint a manager that will guarantee us Championship football I am sure we will unearth a few gems ME. It is a shame that we never played that Wan Bissaka guy in defence. Eventually he was released and he now plays for Rotherham. He might have given Ward a run for his money eventually.

I'm not trying to have a go at Dazza but I personally find it hard to believe that we have chosen Lampard. I also find it quite hard to believe that the contract is signed and agreed by all parties, and is watertight. Done deal, I doubt it.

Many on these boards have said they want someone younger, not so set in their ways, less afraid to blood the academy players, who will try to play more attacking football, who will have to agree to come to us when a fairly large squad overhaul is required within our (apparent) budgetary limitations - This could tick a lot of those boxes - although (if its true) its a brave decision on both sides, FL could trash his managerial reputation if it all goes pear shaped & we could get relegated -

We've played Russian Roulette with the squad but we're not sure if the bullet misfired or not. This season still has the potential to go pretty dire too. There's a few feeling we'll be lucky to get any more points.

I’ve been trying to think of the positives for Lampard and there are some - but it’s more of a risk than Howe/Dyche. I’m sure if I look hard enough I may find more - but I am a little disappointed with this (if true).

I'll be very disappointed if it is Lampard. He has had two jobs and failed at both of them. I'd bring in Raffa. Big Sam might be humbled enough to come back, but I doubt it. I only want successful managers. Players winning stuff or being smarter than average does not make them good managers. Do you know off the political pages of HOL I tend to agree your posts and this is no exception. Unless the package includes an upgrade in other coaching staff we will be seeking to run before we can walk.

Have you actually watched the development squad playing? If so who do you think is ready for the Premier League? With our academy status and better quality under 18s we might have some ready for the Premier League in two or three years time but we need to still be in the top division at that time and if we blood youngsters now we probably won't be

I'm not really sure how I feel about Lampard because to be honest he's so new to management it could go either way. He wasn't awful at Derby or Chelsea, he just didn't excel either. If he came I would support it and wait and see what happens. Funnily enough, reading about Viera it sounds like he might actually be a better fit as apparently he is well-known for organising a tight defence, which for a smaller club like us is really important. Personally I don't think Parish would risk handing the reigns over to such an inexperienced manager and if Roy leaves I still think it more likely it will be Dyche or Howe, who have both managed PL clubs of our level. I'm guessing, but I think the Lampard rumours are more a case of the media putting two and two together; i.e. Lampard is in London + Palace possibly looking for new direction = Lampard to join Palace. Punters like the idea of that slap some money down on it and soon Lampard becomes the "bookies favourite".
