Anyone who has been paying attention will know that the way to beat us is to a) move the ball faster b) try and draw us up the pitch to make use of our painfully slow defence. Brighton attempted to pass it through our defence in a ponderous fashion for much of the game and due to playing two tiny strikers in the first half couldn't put high crosses in the box. The decision to play four centre-backs also meant that on the two occasions we countered effectively we won the foot race and got the crosses in. I like the way Potter has Brighton playing and if they can afford some better players it should pay dividends long term. Last night and in our previous encounter though he got his tactics wrong. Bentenke now has more goals than Maupay this season which is very funny too

I have often wondered how they get away with it. Is it the Stadium sponsorship?

Because we already had players of the highest level in the squad. They came from nothing, so they had to spend to be competitive in the PL. Imagine that we didn't have Zaha. With thay buy alone, we would have spent nore than Brighton. We spent a lot too, but we had sales as well(AWB comes to mind). But Brighton will have a great financial future too, people who analyse finances know they promoted players who will be sold for a lot more (Trossard, Maupay, Connolly, McAllister, Lamptey, March, Dan Burn). They also have some very exciting loanees at a very young age (Gyokeres etc.) The survived under Hughton for two years with pretty much the core of the squad that got them promoted, Bruno, Dunk, Duffy, Bong, Stephens, Knockheart, March and Murray. They added Propper, Gross and Ryan and a few others to the squad but they stayed up with them.

I disagree. They have many chances. And ot only in this match, in most matches. They need a little better finishers. Is it better to live by accidents like Benteke's goal? We win 3 poknts ouy of nothjng, but keeping this up.will surely mean relegation in 2 years, cause you can't fool football forevwr. Meanwhile, Brighton keeping this up and getting a few bettwr finishers will rise in the league in 2 years and will even fight for Europa League spots. It's how a manager build mechanical football and tactics and the guarantee of wins in the long term. But how many defence splitting passes was my point, at best 2 in the whole match. Brighton may rise but I suspect they will struggle to keep their best players, Bissouma and White will be off, if only to help finances.

Not according to Brighton fans. You have let yourself down in this thread with your bigging up Brighton. Potter has done no better than Hughton despite spending millions.

Brighton fans think Burn should be played as a winger! 6ft 7 that would be a first. His defending for winner was awful
