That would be doubly impressive given we’re playing tomorrow

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Why does every team contain Cahill? The most overrated player we have ever had. Let’s get back to the best CB pairing of recent years. And let’s get Wilf back on the right.
This should be the team:
Guiata; Clyne, Tomkins, Sakho, Schlupp; Zaha, McArthur, Riedewald, Eze; Ayew, Benteke.

It’s all about opinions and I agree that I also feel Tomkins and Sakho are the best pairing. I don’t rate Reidewald though as much as others do, so I guess many of us can’t pick the same 11. I would also have Benteke and Bats as the two up front as well as picking either Zaha or Eze as part of a 4 midfield. Don’t think we can have both in the side as they both give the ball away a lot and put the team under pressure - Not easy picking a starting 11 but having a player like Eze on the bench and Townsend would make for a stronger squad? Think with an aging squad it’s difficult to pick a constant 11?

Having acquainted myself with the formations recently played by WBA, it is apparent that whichever one they have deployed, they have 3 players in the central midfield area so with a 4-4-2 we could be dominated in this vital area with just the '2' against their '3' depending of course on how we are setup and the tactics that are deployed.
With overlapping full-backs in a 4-4-2, the central midfield is bolstered but we only have PVA on the left who can provide an attacking outlet to some degree.

There can be variations of course depending on whether a team is on the attack or without the ball so a 3 at the back could become a 5 and a 4-3-3 can become a 4-5-1 etc etc in phases during a game.

Against WBA it is important that we make a positive start, dominating the ball and not allowing them to build any momentum early in the game.

Those that still have faith in Tekkers and have been calling for him to get a start will today either be a)sorely disappointed or b) vindicated. I sincerely hope it is the latter but I fear the former.
