I don't post often, only when I feel passionate enough about the topic. When we were being linked for a second spell I posted the below and think everything he has done so far has only made me think this more;

'Was underwhelmed with Batman, last day hat trick saved his stats, luxury player who doesn't want to challenge and runs around even less than Benteke. Happy to be proved wrong.

Apparently it was a last day brace not a last day hat trick. Either way, how hard is it to find someone willing to smash people to bits that can actually play football aswell, apparently very hard.

Morelos fits that bill but will now have European football, a lot of fans and a young manager. A couple of seasons ago, we could have got him. In my opinion, exactly what we need.

Starting to think that whatever striker we bring him, we'll find a way to ruin him.

Correct

Eze could actually set Batshuayi up, if he wasn’t marked up early or he made runs or they got some understanding going.

I’ve always said to not expect a lot from Batshuayi nearer the halfway line. On the plus side I think we’re still looking good going forward and there’s quite a bit of scope for it to improve. It’s a shame we didn’t have 2 Eze’s, or a fit zaha, or a more useful Townsend. So 2 players lol.

That's pre-supposing we have someone able to make crosses. Nobody last night seemed to be able to.
Perhaps if Townsend played on the left and thus able to use his best foot it might happen (instead of opponents knowing he is more likely to cut inside when on the right) I have a lot of sympathy with whatever striker we employ. However, the main and repeated problem is that we have no creative midfielder and the suggestion that Kouyate could fill that role is laughable.

We basically need Jamie Vardy. Someone who makes their own luck, is a great finisher and who is lightning quick. I'm pretty sure 80% + of teams would want Vardy up front for them though!

Batshuayi for me is a more competent finisher than Tekkers as shown by the way he took his goals which were, admittedly, offside. I'm not defending him as he has not been great by any means so far, but I do think he has goals in him and just needs that first goal to get him up and running. Bentenke looks competent outside the box but in it he just seems psychologically damaged.

I doubt that we could accommodate Eze, Wilf and Batshuayi in the same team as it would leave us too open; therefore, once Wilf is back I imagine Bats will be dropped unless he has a big turnaround in fortune.

Was very static yesterday just standing by their defender. Needs to be making little runs finding pockets of space. Not impressed. But to be fair they were all pretty s***. The whole team looked like theyd been sat on their arses for the last 2 weeks eating pies.

The obvious is Eze on the left and Zaha on the right. Don't actually care if either like it or not. For their money, they can play wherever they're told to. Townsend would be decent back up, along with Banks.

have to agree 100%. He was ok last time but went missing too often and the last day brace makes his figures look better than the reality.

This time has proved once again he can't lead the line - has no physical presence and can't head the ball (him and Wilf up top is a free defensive header every time).

His workrate is poor as are his runs. Doesn't seem to know the offside rule either - 'goal' v wolves a classic example.

Often comes alive in box, but last night had a few poor touches when had a decent position and missed a decent one on one.

I was hoping for more. Maybe our Chelsea loanee should have been a midfielder - Loftus or Barkley??

When he resigned I was pretty optimistic and hopefull we would see him net 10-15 goals. Unfortunately he’s exactly the same as Tekkers.

Both on huge money, no requirement to make any effort and happy to coast along hovering up the £ until the next pay day comes along.
As a club we need to move on from these so called marquee players that are just financially suicidal.

I’m sure we will end up low/mid table this season, but then it’s time to get rid .. of Tekkers , CW, Sakho, Meyer.

O how we miss Zaha, he injects life into the team.
Have always felt Giroud is the better striker and works harder.
We still haven't sorted the number9 position out.
Let's start playing people in their proper positions and these will will make up a strong team.
Maybe we've got too many midfielders and certainly not enough strikers.
Please come back for Newcastle, Wilf, otherwise another 3 points lost.
Should have blown a poor Burnley side apart.
These are games we must win otherwise we will be staring up the table again!!!

The issues with Batshuayi’s game identified within this thread will be known to Roy and the coaching staff.
Will Roy adapt the tactics to suit Batshuayi’s game in terms of service he receives?
In my view this is unlikely - Roy uses a system and the players have to play within the framework.
It’s why I was unsure about Batshuayi joining in the summer because he will not do the running and defensive work of an Ayew and we don’t tend to play the sharp passes into the penalty area that Batshuayi thrives on.
It’s better to have him as an option than nobody , but I’m not expecting him to pull up any trees.
