Can we now have a pen1s size satisfaction chart? I'm driving a red sports car.

Not sure about you but I don’t need satisfaction from a pen1s!

Getting back to the OP. I would say 5/10. If Wilf had gone and we got Sarr in the it would be a 7 and if we got the young centre half in an 8/10. If we got Sakho Wickham and Benteke off our books it would be a 10/10.

By all accounts Benteke played well for Belgium when he came on as a second half sub and he also took the captain's armband

Yeh, but he don't do it for us and costs a fortune hence my comment. Don't get me wrong, there is a good player lurking in there somewhere, but not when he pulls on the red and blue.

I often wonder if we set the team up around him whether or not he would do better

I don't. He's been utter gash for three years before my eyes. Not helped psychologically by missing three penalties on the bounce including the farce against Bournemouth. Doesn't even look like he believes he can score himself.

We still have another 10 and a bit days till all transfer dealings must end but how satisfied are we at what we accomplished during the main window that ended yesterday?

For me:
1. the addition of Ferguson, Eze and Batshuayi addressed areas of major concern.
2. the retention of Zaha was good
3. the unexpected offloading of Sorloth for real money was a pleasant surprise
4. the addition of a good number of youngsters to the development squad was satisfying and hopefully evidence of a longer term plan.

I know we were linked with a variety of other players but that always happens in these windows.

Overall, a good window for us and I'd give it 7/10 (I'd have liked a young CB and creative midfielder and another striker but we were never going to be allowed to spend the money needed for that).

Agree with you, but would add that Batshuayi on loan does avoid the financial risk that Benteke has burdened the club with. We might miss out on any benefit gained if he does show highly impressive form, but that seems unlikely - and he’s available on a free next summer.

Excellent work of finding a way to get some extra money in for Sorloth. When he left for Turkey no one though anything would ever come of him and the loan deal seemed reasonable. His excellent form was completely unforseable and we’ve managed to maximise our income from a poor starting position.

Interesting that there’s people claiming we need to invest a lot more, whilst also slating our 2 most expensive ever signings. Do they think doing the same thing again will yield a different result?

Ferguson looks like excellent value for money with minimal financial risks.

Everyone wants a 20 goal a season striker, another Cabaye in midfield etc, but how many of those players actually exist. Rome wasn’t built in a day either. We’ve got a pretty stable squad of players who’ve all been at the squad a while. Roy will want to intergrate them into the current side who driiled and drilled and drilled on defensive formation and positioning. Any more than 4 players in could impact the stability of the squad and system.

1 for Keeping Zaha
1 for Getting Bats Back (Even on loan)
1 for Eze

that's 8/10 and I'm not apologising for having my cup half full.

Cheers Roy, from the Terraces to the Dug-out.

No argument on the gaffer but I might challenge the period of time we have been in this division.

7.5. Higher marks had we off-loaded Wickham, and pushing a perfect 10 if we sign Sarr (we won't).

You guys are forgetting Banks. Nominated for player of the month in PL2 (development). Expect to see him off the bench soon and starting in the Cup in Jan...

Amen.

Unless they are 2nd XI/academy.

Evolution not revolution.

Coudlve been better if we had replaced Wickham/Benteke but apart from that it hasnt been a bad transfer window.

Hopefully we'll continue to replenish the squad in the next transfer window.

6.5/10

Looking at the age of Sakho, Dann, Kouyate, Ward, Van Aanholt, Cahill, Tomkins, both JMs, Luka, Benteke, Kelly, and Townsend (not going to include the 33yr old Guaita) I think we need to evolve a little more quickly than is being demonstrated.

The manager's age is a bit less of a problem IMO.

Yeah I agree. We shouldve kicked off the process a couple of transfer windows ago. If memory serves me correct, the noise was all about reducing the squad age even back then but nothing came of it.

Typical Palace.

Not that I can see it happening, I just hope we don't rush into a rash of new signings just to lower squad age.
