I will be waiting to see how this plays out before setting out a legal challenge against cpfc. They cannot simply take out money and not provide a product and offer a refund a year later. You have rights as a consumer and if they are broken then I will be instructing my solicitors to start proceedings. I will obviously send a detailed email to cpfc first giving them the chance to refund me (which they will) but I will be doing this on behalf of all the fans so I will not except my personal refund until I get assurances from the club.

I will update all on how this pans out.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

This is all well and good, but, what Act/Ordinance have CPFC broken? I am with you in spirit but no point starting a fight if you can't win.

Similar to airlines taking your money then offering
" free " changes of date, then ask for more money because demand is more.

I have not read the ST Terms and Conditions in detail but suspect there is something to the effect that the club have no legal requirement to provide anything.

Not sure if the Consumer Protection Act is in anyway applicable.

As a general rule there is no liability if an entity is following an instruction of Government

It was always nonsense for fans to pay full price for something the club never had any control over providing which is why I opted out this year and put down a smaller deposit on next year's ST to secure my seat. At least I had that choice because of my age and perceived vulnerability to Covid.

However, going forward maybe it would be sensible to extend the option above to ALL supporters to enable them to secure their seats? It could be a stop gap then when the situation allows perhaps partial STs can be offered to everyone?

As far as I'm aware, they are not allocating seat numbers this year but what happens next season when new and lapsed ST holders apply for seats? Who will get priority ... 20/21 ST holders of course.

I've got a horrible feeling this ticket fiasco may have a long way to run yet!

Hi Daz / Henry -
Just reading your comments & as many will know from my recent posts I share your pain - On the subject of a legal challenge, FWIW
1: As I see it on the season ticket page it says clearly that at this point in time no one can say how many games you will be able to see , this of course indicates that it is an unfolding situation to which the club has no overall control - the Government is the controlling party as it is the body issuing the guidelines (law)-
2: My guess is that some would say that Force Majuere comes into play here, but I would dispute that because to enforce Force Majuere the situation would generally have to be one that was not foreseeable (Covid 19 2nd wave) in my opinion would not fall under that heading - (Covid 19 1st wave would) 3: Where I see the best chance of a challenge is the decision to try to take 17 games of money when it was almost certain that 17 games could not be seen -I have said on a couple of recent posts that the sensible thing for the club to do would have been to take a reasonable amount off supporters held on their credit account and as games are attended the credit amount diminishes & would require topping up as the season unfolded.
4: Also for me personally I do not fall into the category where I have a doctors note to safeguard my seat, so I have decided to take a season off & will apply for a new seat/ season ticket next year - I honestly love palace & love going to SP but this year it wont happen for me.
Please keep us up to date with any findings or opinions that come to light in this matter - I have no wish to see my club in court or fighting an expensive legal challenge but I would like to see them take a more prudent supporter friendly stance on this matter.

Just to add to my previous post - I dont honestly believe that at this late stage the club will change the offer if they have already sold a large numbers of tickets (unless they are forced to / some kind of legal challenge is upheld) - its a kind of "that train has already left the station" kind of scenario.

Agreed. I probably would’ve paid a lump sum to save my seat for 21-22 but I wasn’t going to pay for 17 games to get the chance to see 5 or none at all. Utterly ridiculous and taking the piss by billionaires.

Yes i have received an e mail, stating any monies will be credited to 21/22 season if i am unable to attend games due to government policies, as for Daz, what a pompous idiot, going to instruct solicitors, really!, same sort of idiot who will be telling the club to spend £20 million on some player, Daz, go back to school

The initial charge is 17/19 of price.

I renewed on the basis that even if no games this year, the net downside is the difference between ST price and the reserve fee for 21/22 being lent to Club for year.

With interest rates where they are, that's enough for one fish n chip in Doneagles.

I think I can live with that BUT I still fundamentally disagree with the approach the Club have taken to the whole ST fiasco, I would value ( so that's an opinion ) the loss of goodwill at a lot more than the monetary value of the transactions.

Many fans now realise under the current ownership they are customers/number/widgets NOT an integral part of the club.

It’s the difference of 2 seasons of fish suppers for adults.
