Roy is and has been a very competent manager. Probably the best Palace has had in the premier league. Are people on the tread so ignorant to notice the situation at Everton for example. It is extremely difficult to stay in this league. Two hundred million under Silva ? Koeman ?

You can either look at the performance and critisise the quality of it (and based upon not conceeding you can't critisise the defensive aspect) or you can look at the game as a process.
Jach, Woods, Inniss all getting minutes in a back 4 that kept a clean sheet?
Kirby playing 70 minutes?
Eze getting 90 under his belt?
Yes, like watching paint dry, but as a process, lots of possitives.
Oh and another find, confirming Hennessey should stay off penalties....

have to disagree on one part the defense was appalling just because we didnt concede is not good enough for a back 4 they need to be able to at least find somebody in midfield to pass to we didnt start gaining possession until sakho came on for this very reason.

We don’t want to be in it and right now nor should we. Idiotic really that this competition is even being staged this season. These are not normal times.

Villa and Burnley I imagine will be the only PL teams to put out an even half recognisable side. Toon fans were outraged ASM featured in their match - very nearly got crocked.

Give Eze and Bats and Sakho minutes and decide which of these fringe players deserve the last 2/3 slots in our 25 man squad.

That was a terrible game, but it is clear from our performances in this cup in recent times that we don't really want to be in it. Luka's penalty at the end was the equivalent of the boy picking his ball up and saying "right, that's enough, I'm going home for my tea". No stand out performances good or bad. Only highlight was Eze's cheeky penalty. Roy seemed to indiacte post-match that what little interest evaporated as soon as they announced when the City fixture would be played.

If we play like last season over the next few months then with the new signings we have I too would be questioning the decision to keep Roy at the helm, but not after tonight, and certainly not after Southampton when there were signs we are going to be more of a threat.

P.s. could the players all chip in and refund us our tenner?

Absolutely, but I suspect the fear was that if we ditched it for this year that would be seen as the thin end of the wedge and the competition's death knell.

It was clear from the team RH put out that it was all about giving some key players vital game time and a few you8ngsters the chance to mix it at a level higher than they are used to.

Both RH and RL spoke about how pleased they were and I don't think that was anything to do with the result but about the objectives they had set for some of the players.

You are so correct, the last thing we want at this time is a change in Manager, Roy is a good solid manager liked by his players. He quite rightly rested players in preparation for Man U at the weekend. We never needed to progress in this competition because we have a small squad and we do not want to risk anymore injuries, of which, we already have our fair share and the next few games are going to be very difficult!

Get a grip, we won our opening game, we’ve made positive signings give it some time, regardless of what you wish for in this warped idea let’s play ‘Brazil’ style football.. we will be safe for another year in the prem under Hodgson like we have been in all of the 3 he’s been here.

No need to throw the toys out the pram cause we’ve been nocked out the man city cup which we would have got knocked out (to city ) next round anyways.

And if come end of Feb 21 and we're safe and Roy's contract is extended for another year...? I know 'Nightmare on Holmesdale Road'

He is, after all, involved whilst the club are putting into place their longer term plan of bringing in younger players etc.
