I can see McCarthy or Luka being drafted in for Jairo but imo that’s harsh. He’s looking good and he needs game time to continue to develop. I think he could be a long term successor in midfield if he gets the chance.

Agreed, especially after LUka's and McCarfthy's performances in the game yesterday (Only saw 1st half). They weren't particularly good (nor was Meyer for that matter). Jairo ought to be given a starting role in midfield.

Also I expect Batshuayi will play some part even if only off the bench.

Sell Townsend, Benteke, and Wickham. Buy Benrahma and take Batshuayi on loan.

Guaita

Ferguson--Cahill--Tomkins--Van Aanholt

Milivojevic--McArthur

Benrahma------Eze------Zaha

Batshuayi

And Palace win the league...

Perhaps half a chance Jairo starts on the left. He started preseason there after all and only got shifted when McCarthy got crocked. Mitchell has looked dicey to me - down a level from his PL appearances and naive. Jairo has no pace of course so maybe not.

I just watched Roy's post-Brondby interview in which he says that Luka will take time to be match ready based on his performance. Eze back in training. If Bats signs today then I'm hoping for this (although I expect Eze to be on the bench with Bats with Schlupp and Andros starting).

Wilf, Ayew and Eze are all capable of playing across the front line or on the wings so could interchange during the game. McArthur and Jairo are going to have to work really hard defensively though if we go with this. McCarthy to replace McArthur on the hour mark.

Ward Kouyate Dann Tyrick

Guita
Ward Kelly Dann Mitchell
McArthur Riedewald Schlupp
Kirby Eze
Ayew

Subs:

Bats
Zaha
Woods
Kouyate
Luka
Hennessey

Whatever combination you choose there are a surprising number that will be left out, there have been no transfers out yet.

Townsend McCarthy Cahill Sakho Tompkins Benteke Meyer that's a quite a quality list not making my bench whether by injuries or whatever.

Seems we can afford it!

Is this some tactical wizardry to ensure we're effectively playing against ten men as Ward-Prowse will be spending most of the time trying to kick Wilf on the bench.

Bats plus ten others

I would keep Zaha up my sleeve and introduce him when the opposition least expected it.

I’d have the same team but swap Zaha and Ayew. Zaha has looked red hot through the middle in pre-season.

The back 5 has no decisions to make on it, although to me we look week for both full backs. TM is okay with the ball but needs to develop without it.

If fit, Ayew, Wilf, Eze and Bats should all play. They have a goal between them, maybe 2, and that's enough for me.

That means Jimmy Mac and, I guess, Jairo giving a bit of cover to the defence and a bit of energy/passing/link up between defence and attack.

Ayew would need to work his bollocks off in this scenario

Looks about right to me. As Bats needs good balls into the box I'd go with you and keep Wilf and Eze out wide. I know there's a case to have Wilf up top with Bats but I think Ayew will work well up front with our new man now that he's had the confidence of a good season behind him.
