I'd take the money use it to buy something we don't have, then using Riedewald/Meyer to take the pitch time McCarthy has. Oyasi-Samuel at QPR is the same money, a winger, and 7 years younger. I'd rather have Oyasi-Samuel on our bench than McCarthy. Luke Dreher is back training from his all-season injury to act as back up to Luka, McArthur, Kouyate, Riedewald, Meyer, Schlupp, even if we didn't make another purchase in the middle.

Nonsense! Pay 10/12 million for an unknown quantity. McCarthy was a steal at the price we got him and is a good player. He is the only player in our squad that is capable of a heavy challenge. A lot of you need to get over your Meyer crush.

He's ok, an average squad player. Wouldn't be in my starting 11. One position where we are not thin is in central midfield. He's no different, or better than Luka, Kouyate or McArthur. Freeing up a slot in CM would hopefully give Jairo and Max more game time. We've also got Schlupp in there. £5m? Yes please. Put the money towards a striker/winger.

I would rather off load the high wage earners who have offered us very little in recent times, such as Sakho and Meyer.

I agree, McCarthy is an old school style footballer along with several others of our no nonsense midfield. We could afford to lose him from the squad and not notice he had gone. £5m could be put to better use such as the young lad from QPR. We are short of wingers, we are not short of stoppers in the middle of the park, especially old ones.
