He'd be playing in the holding midfielder role. That would be too far forward for Roy more like sweeper or centre half.

He was not good enough for the PL. Just because he is scoring in Turkey, doesnt make automatically good enough again. Exactly and in fact not good enough for the PL is being too kind to him, he was just shocking...and he was given more than enough opportunity...TWENTY appearances!!! Bear in mind they saw him in training everyday too and ultimately still couldn’t wait to get shot of him! The quality of the football and particularly the defending in the Turkish league is barely even of Championship standard. He has found his level and good luck to him but he would only be any good to us if we dropped down a league or two. AS for recent strikers in a Hodgson set up...Batshuayi did well for us’.

His playing record 2019/20 is not bad 41 appearances for club and country with 26 goals scored, when compared to us as a club we have only scored 28 goals total all season to date. Currently aged only 24 and he may well have got better with time and proper coaching,of course know one can be sure but with bigger clubs like Real Madrid allegedly showing interest in him we may well have missed an opportunity, do remember both Ian Wright and Jamie Vardy came from minor league clubs at about the same age and look how they turned out!

Didn't get a run in the side and his ability declined before he went out on lone. Had a decent game against Man U and Chelsea then didn't get a look in again. As Reidewald and AWB showed, players get better when they get a run of games. Especially the younger ones.

Could not agree more he needed time to adjust to the pace of play in PL as it would have been much different to what he was used to in Norway and lets all be honest he has made progress in Turkey even if as some say it's not the same as playing in PL. He has also shown he can score in the Europa league as well as at international level when playing for Norway. We may have well missed out now as he could not be any worse the CB.

Whoever signed off the the terms of the deal that took Sorloth to Turkey should be named and shamed, very bad business, pure and simple.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

No idea what his contract situation is, but in my opinion he’s done enough to deserve a second chance at Palace. He was pretty bad before, but it’s fair to say he didn’t really get much of a run in the team. The odd 10 minute cameos count little towards appearance stats. The Turkish league has nothing on the Prem in terms of quality, but we have a striker crisis and this is a player with confidence, scoring goals and a point to prove.

We should close this thread. Roy repeated last week that his contract has another season to run in Turkey and that we cannot recall him. On top of that a fee has been agreed so as long as his new club want him all they have to do is pay the fee. He aint coming back.

just for info the £9m we paid was upfront, there were 7 figure staying up bonuses for 1st 2 years too, and we stayed up both seasons. No issue sending him out on loan but can't believe there is not a recall option after say 1 year. I suspect we are still paying a % of his wages too
