My comments in essence were making these very points. We are birds on the same twig on this matter. There is precious little to get enthusiastic about at Selhurst Park and any outpouring of emotion is in a negative sense and not one with the intention of rallying the troops.I certainly do not not look forward to home games any more. who in the PL has a good atmosphere?!?!
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Don't like the football, don't want to sing, bored with the tactics......? Simple. Don't go. At least you will stop posting bile on here. None of you whingers could have seen Palace when we were really dull to watch. This is silky football compared to the s***e we were dished up with in the seventies and eighties. And crowds were massive then. In the top divisions. But we weren't there. Now we are. And, guess what? The crowds are massive still. But the fans see it as turgid (latest 'buzzword'). It's that attitude that makes for a poor crowd. Get and support the team. Even if they are playing rubbish. There was a game, years ago can't remember who we played, when we were really dire, and in a quiet period, somebody in the crowd shouted "That's better Palace! Still s*** though!", and it raised the noise tenfold. We went on to win.

Villa and Norwich I think, not a coincidence they came up this season. But you are right, atmosphere is generally poor at PL games. Originally posted by Ginger Pubic Wig

Don Rogers Yogi Hughes Gerry Queen Stevie Kember John Jackson.

In most PL grounds it is the away fans who generate more noise as by definition they tend to be the hardcore and you get 2-3000 of the willing to sing concentrated in one place. Even the Seaweeds make a decent noise away from home...

I have supported through thick and thin. On the other I have two sons who are also season ticket holders who are saying they are just not enjoying what they are seeing and have questioned whether I should buy season tickets for next year. Surely the club can't afford to alienate the next generation.

I'm sure it can't be as bad as that period in the Championship when they tried playing crowd noises through the tannoy, crowds of 13/14,000 and Jobi McAnuff being the most exciting player in our team. Is it possible the weather is impacting the mood too? It looked pretty cold and windy the last couple of games.
