It is hypothetical whether we would have amassed the same number of points this season with Hennessey in goal.
What is evident is that Guaita has performed with admirable aplomb and the plaudits he has received are not misplaced.

Bien hecho al Senor Guaita.

I don't think its "tosh" at all. I remember being at the Man city away game and the confidence Guita generates was very visible that day. It has certainly carried on into this season and you can see the confidence the defence has in him. Just look at Norwich yesterday - he was the difference between getting a draw or losing. For a free transfer, he is an incredibly good signing and all credit to those who identified him and then got the deal over the line.

Yup so true

Last season 1st 16 games with Hennesey goals against 21.
After that with Guaita next 16 games goals against 20.

Just one goal difference between them and yet you attribute the early season losses down to Hennessey.

What that tells me is that the defensive record is equal but the attack much better after those first 16 games.

Explain why Watford, just a few games ago were bottom of the league when they have the best keeper in the league in their goal namely Ben Foster. League position is not always down to the keeper.

That would be true except Guaita didn’t play against Liverpool where Hennessey conceded 4 and Burnley where he conceded 1 in those games you’ve counted. So actually my stats were wrong, Guaita played in 2 less games than I credited him for.

In fairness Julian Speroni conceded the four against Liverpool. Wayne came of for Guaita against Watford the week before, conceded two and then got injured.

With regard to the main point Guaita has, without any shadow of a doubt, won us a number of points this season.

Premier league games last season.

Hennessey: Games 17: Clean sheets 5; Wins 4; Draws 3; Losses 9

Guaita: Games 19: Clean sheets 8; Wins 10; Draws 4; Losses 5

That does not include one shared game where Hennessey replaced an injured Guaita at half time and Palace went from a winning position to losing (Watford).

Also remember that Hennessey had the better defense for most of his time in goal too. I don’t think Hennessey is as bad as some claim but he is certainly not as good as Guaita.

So you know more than the guys who have played at the top level do you? It wasn't my own opinion but what I have read and seen quoted by people who know what they are talking about. The best keepers around based on form this season are De Gea, Alison, Edison, Fabianski, Heaton, Dubravka. Foster and, if you like, Guaita.

Guaita has won two player of the month awards this season. If that doesn't say something about our league position then nothing will.
I'm never in favour of letting our best players go, unless there is an adequate replacement.

All this stat stuff doesn’t prove anything, it is too dependant on who we are playing and who the defenders are. It’s performance that really counts.
There is no doubt Guaita is the number 1 keeper and Hennessey is an adequate number 2.
Guaita is the best keeper we have had since Martyn, I cannot imagine there are any plans to accept any offer for him.

Here we go again another battle with PZ as no matter who we put in goal and we find that they are better than "Flapper" all the stats come out from PZ trying to convince us he is the best...even though he is just a backup goal keeper. Guaita is by far the more reliable keeper and thus gives our defenders more confidence. As for Ben Foster being the best keeper in the league that is quite laughable.
Mind you bearing in mind that PZ idolizes "flapper" we have no chance on this board of getting any sense out of him.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

You are a fcuking joke. Not once in this thread have I said Hennessey is better than Guaita and the statistics quoted did not originate from me but someone else. It's laugable that someone said Hennnessey had a better defense in front of him when statistics showed the opposite. So you are another
who knows better than people who have played the game at the top level. Ben Foster is as good as Guaita any day according to people who have more knowledge of the game in their little finger than you do in your whole body, it was their opinion I was quoting and not my own.

In future try actually reading the whole thread before jumping in and spouting lies as usual.

FYI our back up keeper will be playing for his country in the European Championships this summer whereas our No 1 will be ??. Just saying.

They have both performed with some aplomb this season and in my humble opinion there is precious little to choose between them based on their performances this campaign.Perhaps Foster has been the busier keeper and the strengths of both players lie in their shot-stopping.

I accept there are those with far more knowledge of the game than I have in my little finger !
