Roy’s been good for us. I’m torn with him. Today was awful. Couldn’t pass to each other, it’s all so negative. It doesn’t matter what the game is or who it is against Roy will always do what he always does. Same predictable, boring set up and team. You just knew he’d bring McCarthy and Schlupp on. How on earth did he think either of those two are going to get us back in the game. When we are chasing the game at least have a go and stick Benteke on. The only attack minded player we had on the bench today was Benteke.. both max and camarasa left at home. That’s all you need to know about Roy’s thoughts on the game of football. You have to ask yourself, what’s the point in even thinking about transfers in January, who actually believes he’d play any of them anyway. This is the bit where Roy will always be the safe bet for Parish. The team has been underinvested in for so long now that Roys the safest pair of hands and willing to work under the constraints. It’s bloody boring though and next season I want a new direction. Edited by MonsterMunch (09 Nov 2019 9.06pm) Say no more. Chelsea pressed and shut us down, Liverpool will be the same most probably, Burnley, Bournemouth, Watford, Brighton and Newcastle will definitely make lots of silly mistakes just like we do ..enough for us to hopefully have more fun then they do.

I don’t buy this it’s the players we have argument. The team set up is simply wrong. Negative football is killing the spirit in our players. How do the blades successfully challenge the spuds? Villa against the Pooh? Roy against the big teams just rolls over? Come fit me boys, no grease needed. Can we just give the Pooh 3 points upfront and save us the painful of a performance like today?

Who good enough in our team? I was one who saw the bigger picture wih ayew last season, this season they sing his name!! HODGSON.. no we dont need another year Roy/next season. He picks the same team that doesnt work or is about keeping the score down.. Apart from ward what positive substitutes did he do today....

I have always defended Roy but I have had enough myself. We have absolutely no creativity in midfield. I’d just be happy to see any sort of a change at this stage. Those last 2 games have been horrific. The problem is we are all presuming that Meyer and Camarasa would be able to make that difference. I have see enough of Meyer to tell me that he is not good enough for this league so then it’s Camarasa and we have no idea what is going on with him. I think he was just bought in case of emergency as we signed no one else. So if it’s not those 2 who start who do you put in ? I honestly think Roy’s hands are tied at the moment because our squad is threadbare. When I get frustrated I scream for changes but we actually have no one to make a difference. It has been a tough run of fixtures with more to come. However, the team we have will never be very easy on the eye as we are set up to counter attack quickly and catch teams on the break. One of the biggest problems is that Zaha has been non existent all season, the transfer saga has totally got to him and so our one real bit of attacking quality in the side is missing. I agree with some posters that Roy's hands are tied, however if he was given a large transfer kitty(which won't happen) would he just go out and buy more of the same? And then would he even play them unless they played the same as we do now? My other worry is if we put so much money into our youth set up, we will then need to consider whether Roy would ever use any of them unless he was left with no option. He will say look at Wan Bissaka but if it wasn't for the injuries he would still be waiting for his chance.. I think we need to stick with what we have for the season, there is no point in changing anything mid season, and then we need to look at what money we can use to improve the squad and whether Roy is the right man to take this on. I think he has been great for the club and has really settled the club back in the Premier league, but if we continue this way for much longer teams are going to work out how to play against us, exactly what 11 will be picked and we will eventually get relegated. I don't want us to go down like some other posters as the Premier League is where everyone dreams to be, however if we want to stay there some changes will need to happen sooner rather than later.

Roy's style of football may keep us up, but it's so BORING to watch. Every team has that 'exciting' player, who when he gets the ball..the crowd rise to their feet with a sense of anticipation that something special is going to happen... That's what made Wilf a cult hero.. Now we have nobody... Wilf has lost his Mojo.. and I'm afraid so have we...

Freshening it up, I'd give this a go. Alas, Roy, nor most of my liberal Hol colleagues would even consider it.
R/B? (Presuming Wardy's injured) CDM Jimmy Mac Camerasa Wickham I would be quite happy to never see Luka, Kouyate or Benteke in a Palace shirt again.

A truly dire negative performance, even by Hodgson's standards. Only when they took the lead did we venture forward. It must be difficult for players to play in this awful way, the natural instinct is to attack and score goals.

Dare I say it but we need to look to Brighton for an example. Super cautious manager who maintains premier league status gets thrown out for a manager who has them playing football and moving up in the world. I must admit I had them as relegation certs but they have shown it doesnt need to be that way. You just need to get the right manager in and that is the challenge.
