What would Citeh do with him? Twenty minutes coming on to rest Sane at the end of an away game at Toon or Wolves when they're 3 - 0 up and it's pissing with rain and freezing your bollocks off. The weed game will certainly have lost its edge. And Champions League on the telly. And the fans. In between salmon sandwiches they'll say, "Wilfried who?"

The only surprising thing about that article is the reported fee of £50m. Given that Pogba was very nearly £90m what is Wilf’s true value? It’s an academic question of course. He’s not for sale.

The other advantage of Wilf playing for IC which had emerged recently is that if the likes of Dunk and Solly March were called up to the England squad with him, I can see them putting a few leg-breakers in on him on training. Especially with Brighton being relegation rivals, JW Dunk tried to take Townsend out on Saturday and he doesn't even hate him that much! I dread to think what might have happened if Dunk got near Wilf at speed.

Now he has played competitively for Ivory Cost he cannot switch back. I seem to recall cricketer Kepler Wessells playing in tests for both Australia and South Africa. Does the same rules not apply to all internal sports. I believe it is down to residency over a certain period of time.

I'm certain that I also read a few days ago an article of a player who had played for Spain (I think) who now wanted to represent Tunisia (I think again?)in this years World Cup as both his parents were Tunisian Immigrants to Spain.

Two things: I couldn't help but think that Wilf's decision to commit to the IC was sealed when Townsend made Southgate's first squad ahead of him. Should we consider selling him, £50M is surely way too little? Still only 25, better than Sigurdson and other similar priced players and surely as much of a talent as Countinho, Pogba etc? In today's crazy market we'd be mugs to let him go so cheap. Edited by bifffabazz (17 Apr 2018 9.03am) Edited by bifffabazz (17 Apr 2018 9.04am)

If we stay up then if anyone wants to buy Wil;f they will have to pay far more than 50 mil. He is on a long term contract, we have no reason to sell as everyone knows how important he is to our team. If one of the big boys wants him they will have to pay through the nose.

Wessells played for Australia while South Africa were banned and played for South Africa post-apartheid. Morgan has played cricket for Ireland and England, due to Ireland not having full test status at the time. One of the netball girls that just won Commonwealth gold used to play for Australia too. Quite a few tennis players have done so, but they can no longer play in Davis cup if they've represented another nation already - Bedene being a prime example. In football you used to be locked into a country even if you represented them as a youth player. Tim Cahill had to get the rules changed to play for Australia after playing for Samoa U20s.

It will be a hard decision for him , stay earn top dollar get regular playing time . Go to top 6 and be rotated , pick up medals . It could come down to who we buy in summer providing we stay up .Invest heavily with quality then I think the balance swings in our favour.
