Will give it a try in November time when it's in stores

Your stools the following day will be darker than a black hole and heavier than an aircraft carrier.

For example, while avocado has 3.1g of saturated fat per cup (basically a whole, small avocado), it's got no cholesterol and is chock full of fibre and other goodies. Bacon (as a breakfast food comparison) has 1.1g of saturated fat per slice - so it's easy to match the fat content from avocado in one sitting - and bacon is pretty much 0% for everything else except cholesterol and sodium. Also, animal proteins are strongly linked to numerous cancers whereas vegetable proteins are not. It's a fallacy that you need to eat meat to get protein. Where do you think the cow gets its protein from? Vegetables - especially anything that's dark in colour - are an excellent source of protein. And, again, because they aren't heavy with fat, sodium or cholesterol, you can eat a lot more veggies and so fulfill all your protein and all other nutrient needs without killing yourself in the process. And I like the taste of both.

But knowledge is power and I think it's better to understand what you're doing when you eat bacon instead of thinking that you need it for protein.

Edited by Ray in Houston (11 Sep 2017 4.37pm) I'm not going to misread what you mean there, but you clearly do appreciate that protein is needed. I wasn't trying to quote my own version of a GDA for protein intake at any point. Excessive protein intake as promoted by body building magazines sponsored by protein supplement companies just leads to a conversion to fat cells when it can't be fully utilised for muscle growth/maintenance anyway so I'm not going to argue the case for excessive protein intake. I'm just saying, a little bit of protein is a good thing, however you choose to source it. To say bacon is just sodium and cholesterol is not factually correct but it'd be obtuse of me to actually infer that that was what you meant.
