This post has been merged from a topic called 'John Mccormick RIP' by kenbarr Don't often post on here but when I read that Big John has passed away I had to pay my respects. Probably between him and Jacko they were the main reasons we managed to last as long as we did when we went up in 1969. R.I.P. a TRUE Palace legend.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'John Mccormick RIP' by kenbarr Very sad news, what a rock at centre half with Blyth and I think Roger Hynd. If my memory serves me right didn't he come from Wealdstone to us? RIP John

This post has been merged from a topic called 'John Mccormick RIP' by kenbarr Very sorry to hear the sad news. Probably the best signing Bert Head made. A truly great hard working defender in the claret and blue of palace. As mentioned in an earlier post he scored the 5th goal against Sheffield united and boy was there a big smile on his face as he celebrated. It's a goal I will never forget at Selhurst. Thanks for the goal John and all your sterling defending playing for the palace.
Been to Anfield twice seen 14 goals and my team haven't scored any |

(Taken From FB) Not sure really how to get the message out so though that maybe this would work. As you can probably see by my name i am the son of John McCormick ex Crystal Palace "stalwart" from many years ago. Wouldn't usually post much on face book but just wanted you guys to know that "Big John" passed away peacefully today at 9.45am family have all been by his side to say goodbye to a great man and father. I replied:my condenses John was my hero as young boy his strength of character shone through. He never knew me but I love that man still do What a man your father was. You must be very proud. A sad day indeed for the Palace family. Legends like your Dad are never forgotten and live on through us all.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'John Mccormick RIP' by kenbarr Condolences to Johns family. One of my favourite players when I was younger John didn't take any nonsense and I remember always seemed to return a rough tackle or barge with kindness but never complaint!
