Can someone please explain why Damo and Jimmy Mac are not home grown but Schlupp and Van Aanholt are please Delaney started his youth development in Ireland, McArthur in Scotland. Van Aanholt must have been under 16 or 17 when he was at Chelsea, Schlupp was born in Germany but like Wilf grew up in England and came through the ranks at Leicester. I thought that Scottish players counted as homegrown but apparently not. But players developed in Wales do count as homegrown I think. Edited by Mad4palace (03 Feb 2017 2.08am)

Very strong squad only 4 or 5 players that I would be disappointed if we needed them to start in our first eleven, but I’m sure that is the case with most teams.

Hope Conner and Pape are back with us and raring to go next season as we make our assault on 9th place . Our best squad ever ,and not one muppet in it .(I reserve the right to change that statement if we get stuffed on Saturday)

Honestly it's ridiculous Edited by coulsdoneagle (03 Feb 2017 1.59am) This is a wind up right? Unless you know of an alphabet that starts with Z?

Edited by Mad4palace (03 Feb 2017 2.08am) All to do with where you were a youth player, and which academy system you were coached by. Ledley counts because he came through at Cardiff, who play in the English system. Hennessey at City/Wolves. Schlupp and PVA (although only in his later teens) both came through English academies as well, whereas Delaney and McArthur did not.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Following the best ever transfer window last Sept ? The most overhyped transfer window last summer. We had some nice shiny new toys but the foundation was being ripped out whilst many were blinded. Allardyce has taken steps to undo some of the damage caused by the departures in the summer, plus we've added squad depth which we didn't have in 15/16; the main cause for our downfall imo. It's a great squad, just needs to be made into a great team.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

All the 25 are actually fit and available at the moment. (BS said Schlupp should be fit for Sunderland) Is this a sign that Allardyce has improved the overall fitness of the squad which results in less strains and niggles. It was woeful under AP
