Morocco looking dangerous from set pieces but Ivory Coast certainly look the better team in possession. Wilf not really been involved much, shirt pulls galore.

I have to say, I don't think this tournament should be held while all of the major leagues are running. Particularly as it runs every 2 years. Every continent should be able to hold their own tournament but as the majority of these players compete in European leagues it should be scheduled accordingly.

0-0 at HT, Zaha possibly with the best chance of the half. Had his shot blocked by the keeper. Bony, Zaha and Kalou look dangerous for Ivory Coast but neither side seem to have the quality to sustain control in the game.

I grew up in Africa and there is a lot of interest in the nations that historically have done well. The problem with tournament scheduling is that in most African nations it is impossible to hold matches in the Summer heat.

The problem with tournament scheduling is that in most African nations it is impossible to hold matches in the Summer heat. The current tournament is being held in Gabon. Libreville is the capital of Gabon. March is the hottest month in Libreville with an average temperature of 27°C (81°F) and the coldest is July at 25°C (76°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 8 in March. The wettest month is November with an average of 330mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in February when the average sea temperature is 29°C (84°F). So there's not a huge amount of difference between now and July. And if they can hold a World Cup in Qatar during the summer months then surely there can be measures taken to make it work in Africa. I understand budgets are lower but for this tournament there are only 4 host stadiums which could be roofed or have cooling systems installed.

You're turning into Willo with these factoids Most African FAs just have no money at all (and probably shouldn't even be hosting the tournament). Regarding the weather conditions; the richest FAs in Africa are the Northern countries, giving them the most sway over CAF and being the most eligible hosts (when they aren't ousting dictators). In those countries it just isn't possible to play in the Summer, personally I think the WC in Qatar will also have massive issues with the heat.
