No, as it would be a risk to the passenger, if the driver when into anaphylaxis or from the reaction etc. It would be acceptable to call another driver, and not discriminatory. It would be unreasonable to risk the health of the driver as well.

If you have a peanut allergy, you don't get a job in a Sun-Pat factory.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

This is all very nice but did the driver say it was because of his religion or not?

There is no excuse for that kind of discrimination on religious grounds.
If the cab company as a whole won't take dogs then they should state that.

Please no apologists for this sort of religious crap.

A lot of cab drivers seem to have a problem with displaying their own picture in their cabs.

As with their taxi licence. Since TFL changed theirs to stickers they've mostly gone down the route of tinting the glass to obscure it.

Optimistic as ever

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Agreed, but he wont will he. Imagine if a 'Christian' taxi driver had refused to take two homosexuals to a civil partnership ceremony. There would be total uproar from civil liberties groups demanding that he(or she) was prosecuted. And of course the Old Bill you can almost nail on being involved with talks of 'Hate Crimes' Etc....

And rightly so.

I don't think that these things apply to Muslims as one might say the same about Muslims who get a job either stacking shelves or as checkout cashiers in a supermarket who then refuse to handle alcohol.

Whilst Muslims aren't supposed to drink alcohol I don't think that there is anything in their religion forbidding them to just touch a bottle yet the supermarkets bend over backwards to accommodate them.

It wouldn't make a difference, a service animal is not considered a normal animal and is protected from exclusion under the disability laws. Hence all the signs that say no entry with dogs, except for service animals.

The Koran doesn't forbid Muslims from alcohol, it advises against the consumption of alcohol for its effect in clouding the mind and judgement. The refusal to handle alcohol is in error, as alcohol is used in medicines throughout the middle east etc.

The problem is that asshat religions and sects world wide turn 'you should avoid' into its a sin to do this, at the slightest chance, in order to maximise the control of the people.

Kind of like how a story about wasting seed on the unploughed earth, becomes a means to turn masturbation into a sin.

Religion is spirituality for the dead mind.

They don't need to, the media is paying attention and bringing it to the public eye far more effectively than a civil liberties group ever could. Civil liberties groups exist to exert pressure where typically the media and society would ignore such infringements.

The big difference with the gay couple thing, is that a large part of society seems to think its ok to discriminate against people because they're gay.

You can apply for an exemption on medical grounds for not taking guide dogs in taxis/ph in London . Cabbie mate asked for figures on tfl Twitter feed after uber driver refused one . As of last month there are 3 ph and 1 black driver with this exemption !!!
