French cheeses are better than Cheddar and Stilton. But that's not so say we can't live without them. Cheddar is pretty "meh" and Stilton not suitable except for certain occasions. Cornish "young" Brie is pretty good, but at the moment no match for a good mature French Brie.

Not so as it's all a matter of opinion and taste and in my opinion a good Stilton is the undisputed king of cheeses.

The two major areas of purchasing from the EC that Brits will struggle to stop are cars and holidays.

There is very little non EC to compare with a quality German car other than perhaps Jaguar and I'm not sure that they could cope with a huge increase in capacity anyway.

I would have a problem holidaying outside the EU as I won't fly for more than four hours and tend to holiday in Spain and Greece most years

That's about the shape of it people.... whether you voted for Brexit or not, we all need to pull together to make this new era a success.

Sadly, at time like this you find out who your friends are, and who you can rely on too.

The SNP and Sinn Fein are taking this "opportunity" to consolidate their desire for independence and we cannot expect any help but hindrance from there.

Good old Wales stuck by us and between us along with help from USA and the dependable commonwealth allies we can make a go of it.

WE can expect the EU to play hardball and not make any concessions initially. More fool them.

Everyone should now buy English and Welsh goods primarily, eg Welsh Lamb and English farm and dairy produce.

We can replace everything we get from the EU from elsewhere. Aussie Wine is better than French Wine. Cheddar and Stilton are far superior cheeses to the French soft cheeses. German cars - overpriced diesels that have failed emission tests (now we've realised they were cheating all along).

We can get our farmers to actually grow crops again, rather than leaving them for meadows to encourage butterflies and dormouse to inhabit them as directed by the EU. We can pay Dairy farmers a fair price for their milk rather than expecting them to make a loss FFS.

The Jocks and the Paddy's can go their own way... we won't be buying any of their produce either. With the Oil price as low as it is Scotland will struggle, but if Independence is what they want so be it. The Irish loyalists I do feel sorry for, but maybe they might have to have another referendum or come and live here?

It won't be long before we've built up our trade again with USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, India, China, Brazil, etc, as well as using our own manufacturers a lot more for home sales as opposed to selling to the EU.

I would recommend a Honda CRV car produced in this country over any thing Germany, France or Italy could offer!

It also won't be long before the EU nations realise what a fcuk up they have made by not listening to us. Losing £350 Million a week gross (or £8 Billion per annum net ) is a big hole in their budget. All of them will have to stump up significantly higher fees. A lot of them like Greece and Italy are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.

The EU will collapse like a house of cards.

Trust me, we are going to win this war.

Now I'm in turmoil. I've always been a Speroni in person but now Hoof's made an impassioned plea on behalf of the Welsh I'm almost inclined to give Hennessey another chance. But what message would that send in putting barriers up to Argentinean opportunities to trade with us? It's a puzzle.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Fair enough RE: cheese. It's a matter of opinion.

Is this thread still about cheese?

All I smell is cheese.

RE: cars, Jaguar is a non starter, they don't have the capacity, or have affordable models for "the man in the street". But Japanese cars run German cars close on quality these days and you could argue, are better value pound-for-pound.

Can't see either of those two countries accepting anything that would reduce the number of British tourists. We're number 1 and 2 respectively for visiting tourists.

I quite like European cheeses, but will happily submit that Cheddar and Stilton are two of the finest cheeses in existence.

I think it possible to strive for a world where all men may enjoy all cheeses, without the struggle of nationalism to define their options.

It would be suicide to reduce our numbers as tourists as we are their bread and butter and the EU knows it.
I think far too much is being printed and said that we are on our own and the EU will make us suffer due to voting for Brexit. They need us more than we need them and I think we will see a few other countries following us out. The French and Germans are putting on a strong face and are planning how to make it really hard for the others to do what we have done. remember also that dear Angela Merkel will be getting the boot by her own country due to her immigration policy of open door. The German people are NOT happy with her with all the trouble being caused by that alone. Plus the EU will definitely miss our "small" contribution to their club!!

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Britain should delay pressing the article 50 button until we have a proper exit strategy.

The longer there is instability in global markets, the better our position should be.

If the Tories negotiate too soon we will get a crap deal. Not unlike when Cameron and Osborne said that they were not going to pay the £1.7 billion EU surcharge and then quietly paid it in full.

More importantly, Cheddar is the king of cheeses, very versatile. There are so many good British ones, why would anyone buy Irish, Canadian or US cheddar?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Ideally, but if the EU holds firm, they lose nothing. The markets will steady, the UK will still be in the EU, and subject to the EU. The emphasis is on the UK, which has voted to leave, to actually start the process.

Short term, the more that the EU stabalises, the worse our position becomes. If we don't initiate Article 50, we're in the EU, making those contributions and accepting all those issues that made leaving so important - The longer we're in that state, the more influence remainers gain, and the more susceptible the UK becomes to a second referendum, or election of a party on the basis of parliamentary blocking of a leave policy.

I don't think the Conservatives should negotiate the exit, by default, it should go to an election. This is why the PLP are staging their coup. They realise that they could win an election based on an exit strategy, or even a second referendum.

The longer and more protracted a separation becomes, and the longer people feel the bite of an exit vote, the easier it becomes to 'win over' the 'wobblers'.

The moment that Boris Johnson accepts 'Freedom of Movement' for example, in exchange for remaining in the EEA, then the Leave is scuppered. The EU knows it holds a very good hand. The UK holds a questionable one - especially with discord in Ireland and Scotland. It could be that we have a stronger hand over time, but the safe bet is on the EU's position over time.

You'd expect their recovery from the Brexit, economically, to be quicker.

We need to maybe focus on negotiating trade deals with the rest of the world, before going 'all in'.

Unlike the French with their Champagne, we know that diversity of Cheddar is good for everyone.

I very much doubt either side is interested in harming their tourism industry, or implementing anything more stringent that the previous border controls.
