I see that Lying unscrupulous Cnut Jeremy Hunt has thrown his hat into the ring.

Just when you thought you couldn't get a more smarmier lying two faced cnut than Cameron, up pops this cock juggling turbo fcuktard.

Very simple: Rupert Murdoch wants Boris. So that's exactly what Murdoch (and the country) will get.

Murdoch owned Times backed Remain. Come up with a better argument next time.

I thought the same. Johnson has his upsides, but gravitas?! I'm afraid not

Runners I've heard mentioned are...

Boris
Theresa May
Liam Fox
Stephen Crabb
Jeremy Hunt

For me the best candidate of those would be Fox, but I guess it will come down eventually to Boris v May... and if so would prefer Boris. May is insipid and weak willed in my opinion.

WTF is Hunt doing on that list? FFS.... he would be a perfect foil for Labour & Corbyn in a "Your leader is more sh1t than our leader" contest!

Agree on Jeremy Hunt, I can't even see him getting a single nomination though. Stephen Crabb seems to be highly rated but I have no idea why.

The reason I'd back May is that she would unify the party instead of splitting it. She is very Eurosceptic but backed Remain, it's someone everyone could get behind, plus I think she could be a decent leader. She is a woman though, and I think Maggie was the exception to the rule that we should never let women run anything other than a bath.

Yeah, because their readerships are so similar... Definitely not a coincidence that the Sun has endorsed the winner of every electoral contest since the mid-70s. The influence and power that rag holds over some people is astonishing.

I'm sure it's on the 'other' thread somewhere, but the old quote from Murdoch is truly scary: "I once asked Rupert Murdoch why he was so opposed to the European Union. 'That’s easy,' he replied. 'When I go into Downing Street they do what I say; when I go to Brussels they take no notice."

Wait for Boris to get the endorsement in 'The Sun says..." editorial in the coming weeks.

The new leader is going to be involved in some tough negotiations with hard nosed Euro bureaucrats yet Jeremy Hunt couldn't even win a battle against junior doctors

This Boris Johnson?

Boris Johnson wants to keep the UK's access to the single market and does not believe concerns about immigration played a defining role in the vote to leave the EU.

"There will continue to be free trade, and access to the single market," Johnson wrote.

"British people will still be able to go and work in the EU; to live; to travel; to study; to buy homes and to settle down."

- [Link]

He has also said,

"Yes, the Government will be able to take back democratic control of immigration policy, with a balanced and humane points-based system to suit the needs of business and industry."

I honestly don't know what to believe with Boris right now and until article 50 is invoked no informal negotiations will happen so actually nobody knows. I think he and Theresa May need to officially document their intentions because people aren't clear.

I've said before I would accept an agreement where only people with job offers have freedom of movement into the UK if it can be administrated and not abused by temp agencies and low paid workers themselves. It may satisfy the London vote and the disillusioned low paid Brits. The London vote will have to think in xx years time whether they like the higher calibre of candidate free to take jobs here because the EU has wrecked their chances in Spain, Italy, Greece, anywhere else.
