Because she has a fantastic voice. She sings live very very well and has a personality that most other artists are void of. I am not a Mad fan but she can sing that's for sure.
Yeah she is a good singer and has written a few good tunes but her demeanor on stage is embarrassing. She also has the worst talking to the audience, song ratio ever. Can you imagine Barbra Streisand or Celine Dion coming on and saying, Hello you w***ers, it's f***ing great 'ere innit. She dosn't sing as well as them either.

She seems to have a great voice. My wife seems to think its the classic problem, she's got a near perfect voice, and a sh*t repertoire of 'emotional songs sung in this fantastic clear, perfect voice' Which is s**t, because songs of lost love, regret, dismay and despair, need a voice like Laughing Lenny Cohen, something broken and cracked. Anyone who thinks 'Hello' is terribly sad and tragic, should listen to 'Avalanche' or 'Teachers'. Or at least try some Mazy Star, Tinderstinks or Mark Sandman - That s**t will break your heart. F**king Adele, its bloody Coldplay at a different speed

Just been listening to Karen Carpenter. Up there with Streisand. Yes, yes yes ... i know i sound gay. Point being that none of these modern singers including Amy RIP cannot hold a candle to the two previously mentioned voice wise.

Celine Dion is better in my book but it's all subjective, unless you are into technicalities, in which case no pop singer can hold a candle to opera singers.

So are they It must have been over 45 years ago when I saw them at Fairfield Halls when Jeff Lynne and myself were both youngsters in our early twenties Was that before they became huge? I saw the gig when they had just released Overture 10538 and Mr Blue Sky was still on the horizon.

Dionne Warwick....a great voice too. But the problem with Adele isn't so much her voice, its the lack of any cheerful songs. She mustve broken up over 70,000 times. Its all very depressing.
