That's pretty messed up. Let's just say the Chief Rabbi who was turned away (and now can't vote as he's going abroad) won't be the only one in Barnet who wasn't going to be voting for Labour...

What's the 'amended register' anyway? Anyone named Cohen removed?

Don't tell me, the whiter than white Labour party are in the clear over this are they?

Who knows? Doesn't lessen the charge the Tories face though does it?

I hate whataboutery arguments. Cameron uses this tactic a lot during pmq's.

Well they haven't been accused. Labour have had a few incidents in the past relating to election fraud, which I think in at least one case, saw prison sentences.

For me, it doesn't matter who is more guilty or more involved, in any democracy, election fraud must be on the most serious crimes you can commit. Should be on a par with treason, irrespective of your politics.

So I've read the thread and the report.

It seems the Tories have paid for a bit of accommodation and a plush bus to ferry people around during an election campaign and not accounted for it 100% accurately.

Is that really that bad?

They haven't forged ID's or ballot papers - or some similar fraudulent act against the voting process.

This thursday, the local Labour entourage were giving little old ladies near me a lift to polling booth and back and I'll bet that's not accounted for either.

Move on..... nothing serious to see here.

Nothing to see? They have broken electoral financial rules to gain advantage in a general election. That is against the law and undemocratic.

As I said.... I'm pretty sure that Labour were breaking the law on Thursday.......

Have you reported it?

Elsewhere, tory crime chief investigated for fraud.

Unless anything else comes out it all seeems a bit weak.

Tory central office sent activists around the country. In stead of individual MPs allowing for the costs against their own campaign assumed it was covered - it wasn't.

Shouldn't have done it but not much of a srory

Other than spending more than is allowed by law, giving them an advantage over other parties and more than likely help them get elected.
Given that there are 24 mp's under investigation, it could be that the last election would have resulted in a hung parliament.

So no, not much of a story

Also, you'd think a party already in Government would know electoral rules!

The 24 MPS are constituencies where the Battle Bus visited. Once an anomaly, deliberate or otherwise has been identified then it is inevitable that the investigation would spread.

I am not excusing what happened, however I am not sure that it the grand election fraud that it is being portrayed.

Whether intentional or not, an advantage was gained because of the 'error' and thus could have affected the result.
