If you want we can exchange contact details, and I'm more than happy to meet at the Stoke game and explain to you why I think you're gutless.

You said they should just get on with their jobs, this strike is about safety... they're fighting for what they believe, showing moral courage in the face of intimidation. If you don't fight for what you believe, you're gutless

When you post as you have, that's what you come across as. Offering to meet up even more so. I couldn't care less that you'd repeat your points face to face, as I would too.

The strike is dressed up as being about safety but it's in objection to changes to roles.

I believe the public shouldn't be inconvenienced in what amounts to an employer/employee dispute. Saying what I believe is gutless in yiur opinion, heaven forbid what you'd think were I to fight for it...

Is that another sound bite too? "Moral courage"

Optimistic as ever

Bulls***
ASLEF as well as RMT are against this for the same reasons.

It's all about safety, no guard is losing money... what else could it be about? The guards are having their safety critical work taken away from them, thus cutting the number of people on a train, trained in safety critical work by 50%
Why are drivers against this? explain that... their roles aren't changing?? It's all about safety.

You make up s*** to support your agenda... I wouldn't mind if there was a tad of factual evidence behind your reasoning.
You're the typical loud mouth down the local... think you know it all, when it is painfully obvious you know the square root of f*** all.

good luck to them taking part in legal action, voted for by the members of the union which thankfully is still a legal right despite Tory efforts to the contrary. It inconveniences me as I get the train to work but I support anyones right to strike for their right to work and the fact they perceive it to be the train companies once again putting profit before our safety

Well done. You've just lost the argument.

Well said. Was chatting to a guardless train driver and he said he doesn't have a clue what's going on on the train.

A mate at work who lives in Essex told me that the C2C lines have had driverless trains for years and it all seems to work fine.

If the union was honest, this isn't about safety. How can a guard ensure safety on a twelve carriage train? This is about potential redundancies. If they told the public the truth, then they would have more sympathy. Redundancies are part of life in the private sector and people do have empathy for those facing that prospect.

I will say this to any train passengers in the UK as an absolute truth:

The staff on the front line and the unions care about you much more than the train operating companies do. You must all realise that anyway ?

What a load of crap.

The majority of staff don't care. They do their jobs and that's it.

A minirity might make the extra effort with people who have mobility issues or the old. When I have returned home and missed East Croydon due to being asleep, the (largely) Eastern European guards always charge me. None of them shows the slightest bit of concern or understanding. They want their £10.

Don't post false, emotive bollocks to try and make out that these strikes are done out of public concern. They are not. They are done for self concern for their jobs. That is fair enough but they should be honest with the public.
