Anyone see this moving tribute from Rita Ora, who once collaborated on an album track with Prince; 'The funk oozing out of you was un-controllable. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself but I will miss you forever and always. I love you my dear kind friend.' 'May all my prayers go to his family the whole band (you know who you are, I love you all so much) anybody who felt even one little bit of what I was lucky enough to experience face to face, and let us keep alive the one thing he knew would last forever, his music. I love you P. I will never forget you. Love your Rita.' This totally sums it up for me. Here we have an average pop artist using the death of a more famous pop star to make it, 100% all about her. She is, quite frankly, an attention seeking bull5h1ter with zero talent. As has been said on this thread already, it has become an epidemic now which started when Diana died back in 97. I remember them all lining the streets and waling like banshees just for the camera. Now with the rise of social media we have some none entity cretin telling us that because somebody in the public eye has died that they're 'suicidal' and the timeless 'in tears'. Of course when someone influential dies it all makes us sit up and notice, and even feel a little down, but why on earth do we want to know what some mentally ill, delusional loser is feeling? Of course it's here to stay now. Jeeze, I feel suicidal!!

No you don't, at least not like that - free speech is only protected from the state and apparatus of the state. But I generally agree with you that its an absurd concept the idea of 'grieving' over someone who isn't actually real to you. Obviously people feel s**t when someone the respect or were inspired by dies, but its become an epidemic now. I wonder what people said about Jimmy Savile when he died.... Edited by jamiemartin721 (26 Apr 2016 1.14pm) You are right Jamie. Free speech as long as it conforms to trendy new ideals.

Totally up himself if he thinks he and his opinion were important enough to Bowie to share his innermost thoughts Gervais is funny, but he is also an arrogant, stuck up prick with that air of scum bag entitlement that comes naturally with celebrity. A friend of mine once had the misfortune to meet Geri Halliwell, that professional irritant who used to be part of the Spice Girls. She actually said to him "you must feel privelliged to meet a person like me"!!!!!! My mates reply "No...Who are you exactly??"

Edited by jamiemartin721 (26 Apr 2016 1.14pm) Oh dear, I bet "Diddy" David Hamilton wishes he could take back those comments. One of the essential things about Jimmy was that he was a man of the people. He knew his audience, he was very much in touch with his audience. I think the public were his family.

Leaving aside the fact that you state that that you are not going to tell them how to post whilst at the same time you will comment on their supposedly ludicrous behaviour, are your comments about "ludicrous and attention seeking behaviour" not exactly what you are complaining about?

Is it not somewhat ironic that an anonymous football fan posting on a fans forum calls a singer who is a thousand times more influential and popular than he will ever be a "non entity cretin"
