f***ing hell, I'm not normally one for the mass mourning that comes with a death like this, but this one is a real choker. Gutted.

I've been a fan since 1982, seen him live on five tours and have to say I think he's probably the best live performer I've seen. Genius songwriter, musician, producer, arranger and he could dance like James Brown! So many great songs, this was one of the best live; Jacko asked him to sing on his track "Bad". Prince refused, as the first line of the song is "Your ass is mine", and he wasn't going to have Jacko sing that to him, and he certainly wasn't going sing it to Jacko either! Even though in recent years his output declined in quality, there were still some great tracks on even the weakest albums. RIP the purple reign.

Funny how things happen in life. One of my all time Heroes goes and dies a few days before I go and watch my ultimate heroes go and win at Wembley. I'm a bit pissed and emotional but I know that we will know. Life wouldn't throw two heartbreakers at me in the same week.

Prince dead? This is a tragedy. Seen him three times. A prolific and accomplished musician who did some great pop songs and could funk with the best of them.

Came over from Belfast to see him at the O2 a few years back. I have seen loads of live acts in my 62 years on this planet but he was,by far, the most accomplished and exceptional talent I have ever witnessed.

Was never into Prince but he was a top level pop star to be sure. His best song was sung by someone else. Des O'Connor.
