This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

If the argies were nice about it we'd probably give it back but they just give it the biggun. They need to learn the Wealdstone Raider approach won't work on us

Finally our naval capacity might be less, but the Argentine military capacity is monumentally less. Turns out, Military Juntas spend most of their money on defence, and that's why they end up invading places like the Falklands, to distract from their domestic policy failures.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

And some great inventors, however its notable that the likes of Baird and Fleming achieved their success and careers south of the border. But certainly when it comes to party, the Scots know how to rock it. Plus the Jesus and Mary Chain and Sons and Daughters.

That's unfair, she benefitted, but British citizens abroad on British Territory had essentially been 'occupied', by a foreign power. Sovrignity had been violated and the citizens rights directly violated, by a 'fascist' Junta with a history of human rights violations and murder. Thatcher was definitely right to take military action. True, it essentially won her a great boost in the election, but had it failed, the conservatives would have lost by a landslide.

Oh dear, but if they can do it for the Argies they can do it for the Falklands. Seems to be a pointless exercise probably implemented by a Latino cabal within the UN.

We were a lot closer to giving the Argentines the Falklands than many think. Even Thatcher was more than willing to talk about the Sovereignty of the islands even after the invasion. We were trying to get rid of the Falklands for ages before the invasion and if the Argentines had withdrawn after the initial invasion, or even accepted the plan presented by Peru after the Belgrano was sunk, the islands would now be called the Malvinas. Here is an excellent lecture that I saw on BBC Parliament only yesterday. Well worth a watch, very eye opening.

Say what you like, but Pinochet was our best ally the first time round. The USA dragged their heels with that pathetically idealistic Haig mission and only succumbed because of the legacy of Suez in any case. I'm under no illusions with that lot, count on the Yanks for nothing. It pains me to say it but the Frogs were tremendously helpful with military advice and hardware, but then again they too had vestiges of an Empire and didn't exactly want worrying precedents to set in. And if anyone blabs about EU solidarity, I invite you to study the conditions they attached to their support, including hikes in CAP contributions. They're charlatans, not mates. It was never decided that the Falklands would be given away without consultation with the people and hence these islands were never in any real danger of going.
