Perhaps, but talking bollocks is not a crime and having a "stupid" opinion is purely subjective as you might say.
One can be factually incorrect of course but given how people interpret "facts" to suit their argument then even that appears to be questionable. Therefore backing up an opinion is not as simple as it might appear since people only see reality as they want to and not as it is.

I disagree, some people have stupid opinions that are simply stupid, such as student 'leader' in this example - and its important to address stupidity in society rather than accept it as 'equally valid'.

I quite respect a few people on here I really disagree with on opinions and issues, because they can understand their opinion and reason for it - even if I happen to think its flawed.

Well "stupid" is a value judgment just like "sense" is, as you stated in a previous post.
There are some things which are apparently self evident and demonstrable but in the world of politics, for example, "facts" are rarely that straight forward. One can be uneducated or less well informed but we allow people to vote in elections with no consideration for their education, and so that is practical example of "Stupid" opinion being as valid as any other where it counts.

Given Peter Tatchell is an effete 64 year old man either this is: clever irony; or the other type of irony?

Whoosh?

Screaming irony?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
