Well he seemed like an odious individual. Just read that link Superfly posted. Awful stuff. I met Cecil on a few occasions and he was the portrait of suave aplomb, a man of erudition and a true gentleman.
Sorry I realise that my choice to bold the opening gambit from your post may have been too subtle for your narcissistic self..but i was actually referring to you... Edited by Lyons550 (25 Jan 2016 8.36pm)

To defend someone we met on a few occasions, because, upon those occasions, he was polite & erudite in his conversation with us, is a strange approach. The treatment of his daughter & mistress over many years reveal more than a few meetings in a public place.

All I was saying was how he was whenever I met him.I repeat, he was a true gentleman, charming, erudite and good company. And he was a very able minister and an asset to the Conservative Party.Clearly the so called "Scandal" prevented him from progressing in political terms.

Edited by Lyons550 (25 Jan 2016 8.36pm) Those who truly know me would readily testify that I don't do "Narcissism". But like you, I am wrong on occasions. Anyway, I have said enough on this thread and won't get drawn into any protracted debate which would more than likely end up as a WILLO thread. Edited by Willo (25 Jan 2016 9.27pm)

Edited by Willo (25 Jan 2016 9.27pm) I truly believe that you don't realise how you come across. You often refer to "people you know" or footballers you have titbits on. I can believe it is all true just remember not everybody does have the same access so try and impart information with humbleness rather than hubris. Just saying that you're stoking the fire.

With the greatest of respect I don't place myself on any pedestal and I don't intend to come across with any hubris or haughtiness.I have always stated that I am far more self-deprecation than self-promotion and those who DO know me would say that "Humble" is one of the ways they could describe me.I am nothing special on HOL and I am happy to be a midge in the swarm, bowing down to others.

I am interested Willo in what you think of successful wealthy adults who reject their young children.

Are you extracting the Michael
Just found this article on the BBS about his illegitimate child. Just in case anyone was tempted to say something nice I've a feeling this thead will run short of the Bowie one
I got so depressed reading the Telegraph link about this awful man that I clicked on another article next to it about the 34 funniest things Billy Connolly ever said. Cheered me up straight away. Connolly's being driven in London by Ralph Mctell who's lost trying to drive him from Putney to Knightsbridge. Connolly says "Didn't you write Let me Take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London?" And so on.
