Can't believe such a silly debate is taking place: If it was straight boxing Mayweather would win. MMA McGregor would win. If it was kicks and punches - it would be close but probably Mayweather. Bring in full MMA McGregor would get him on the floor. End of fight... Unless of course Mayweather trains in MMA first.., Really??? I agree 100% about in a boxing ring Mayweather would win, he's a FAR superior boxer and would school McGregor easier than he has lots of other real top level fighters he has beat. However, as soon as you bring in kicks or knees, then it's McGregor winning very easily every time. Mayweather has no experience defending anywhere apart from his upper body, and to make weight in boxing over the years he will have neglected building up his leg muscles massively as most boxers outside the heavyweight division have to. McGregor, if he chose to, would chop him down with leg kicks within a round. McGregor could land 30 leg kicks in a round without Mayweather getting close to closing the distance to land a punch without any difficulty. If for some reason he didn't manage to smash his legs to pieces within a round causing retirement, it would at the very least take away Mayweather's movement that he relies on so heavily. All the upper body movement and shoulder rolls in the world would not stop an accomplished kick boxer from destroying your legs, especially a fighter who has never had to worry about protecting his legs from attack his whole career. Same again with knees. Knees being allowed means that grappling is allowed to some degree, which then negates Floyd's upper body movement again, his greatest quality. When McGregor has both hands round Mayweather's neck dragging his head down to meet knees to the face, that's end of fight also. At the end of the day it is pointless looking too much in to it, because neither a boxing fight or MMA fight are ever likely to happen. Boxing fight is the one that could possibly happen, anything outside of that would never happen, because Mayweather would be destroyed and he will 100% know that himself.

Two completely different sports. Mayweather would school McGregor in boxing, any other form of fighting the fights finished in under 2 mins with Mayweather out cold. McGregor is much bigger than Mayweather he walks around at 175 pounds. A good MMA fighter destroys a good boxer on the street. And ever heard of Robert Garcia? he thinks Cain velasquez would become heavyweight champion within 3 years.

This is completely wrong, leg muscle's are one of most important muscle groups on a boxer, by no means would he be squating day in day out but he certainly wouldn't neglect them to make weight that's not how it works, you cut weight by dehydration and rehydration.

Yes but you are forgetting about the main difference between a kick boxer/MMA fighter and a boxer. A boxer may do some strength and conditioning on their legs, but they do not actively train their legs to be used as offensive and defensive weapons. While anyone can Google photos of Mayweather and see he has chicken legs that would be destroyed by any competent kick boxer, never mind someone of McGregor's expertise, that's just one weakness that would be exposed badly in a non boxing match up. There is a huge difference between being able to use the power in your legs to deliver punches (as a boxer does) and being able to survive an onslaught of leg kicks when you've: 1. Never been hit with a leg kick before, so will have ZERO resistance against them whatsoever. 2. No idea how to defend against anything but punches. The thought of Floyd defending head and body kicks brings on a chuckle, never mind leg kicks. As I said before, it is a bit of a pointless discussion, because Mayweather would never in his life even have a fleeting thought about fighting McGregor in anything other than a straight boxing match, for the simple reason that he could not beat him outside a boxing ring.
