My heavens the socialists have gone rabid.

13 years in government and all labour left was a huge mess to clear up.

Short memories.

The Tory party is the only viable party to lead the country.

Labour are in the process of imploding. I almost feel sorry for them. That is until I see someone like Louise Haigh and her sickening effort to gain political points from the Syria crisis.

It's been 5 years...

Speaking of Louise's though, this must have bought your dinner up:

We're all in it togeather, except of course the corporations, the priviliged and the wealthy. Even the middle classes, a traditional bastion of conservatism are being squeezed.

Whilst we argue, left no right, the corporate state marches onwards making wage-slaves of us all.

Sorry but posts like this make me angry. What a load of absolute rubbish. If by wage slaves you mean we have to work harder to earn money to spend on things we enjoy doing then yes, we're all wage slaves. Do you think everything should be free and not earnt? No incentives in this world for anyone? No liberty for us to do as we please and spend our hard-earned on what we please?

Grow up.

In many respects nowadays money doesn't go as far as it used to in my day. This is hardly a mindblowing statement or one deserving of an attack like this.

And it's a no brainer that corporations are much closer to the ear of law makers than the man on the street. That's how very worrying corporate coup style trade agreements like the trans pacific partnership gain traction. This will have an much impact on us as the EU ever will, if or when we end up part of it.

A 'roll up your sleeves lad' attitude is fine, but it doesn't save you from the realities of the world. There is no point making yourself angry with "do you think everything should be free" when no-one said such a thing anyway in the first place.

I saw a link to Corbyn's Facebook post today which reitterated the questions from the public surrounding tax credits which had come up at PMQs and on QT.

If he thinks the PM was lying when he he offered reassurance that the individual in question would not be worse off then he needs to come out and say it rather that rehashing the idea that the Tories are not the party for the workers. But that hardly dispels the notion that Labour are the party for the non-workers when in the same breath the same people refer to benefits cuts but I guess that attack is their only defence.

It's the same with Labour councils constantly referring to the cuts they're having to make rather than illustrating what good they're doing with the funds. But then I can't recal a positive story EVER about normal British people doing well. It's just not good politics.

A non story.

And I would.

I would agree that promising to reduce immigration and failing to do so is disappointing but it is normal practice for politicians to lie in their manifesto. Why the sudden shock ?
Current EU rules make that particular aim virtually impossible to realise.

Only people of limited intellect take politicians on face value. It is not possible for an MP to be constantly truthful and remain a politician.

its hard for us as the public where the average person dosnt really know anything about politics to actually judge how the current government actually is, and im not convinced about some of these facts tbh, im sure tory supporters could pull out the same stuff about labour if they so wished

I also would, but this is besides the point.

Immigration up 20% since 2010.
National debt almost doubled since 2010.
Police stations being closed down. Coppers axed.
Anything happened about tax avoidance yet?
Housing and rent out of control.
Childrens services cut by 20%.

This list goes on and on.....

Meanwhile, the tories have accepted £60mill linked to hedge funds and private health.

And, it appears, The UK Statistics Authority has repeatedly warned the Tory government to stop lying over immigration, debt, unemployment, benefit caps, NHS spending and A&E performance.

We are being had, aren't we?

judging from your usual stance on these issues, surely you think the first three are jolly good things?

Its ok, I was pretty much against New Labour as well, given they weren't a socialist party anyhow. Plus, Labour's policy (with Conservative support) over Iraq is largely responsible for the reason we're aimlessly bombing Syria, because there is no reasonable solution to the IS problem, and we have to do something.

Of course without the actions of Tony Blair and New Labour in pursuing the invasion of Iraq, there would be no IS (or at least its capacity would have been relatively insignificant).

For me, Labour isn't imploding, its actually becoming something other than a mockery of the reasons people like Kier Hardy formed it in the first place.

Perhaps, but it is also moving away from being electable.

Even Tory hardcore supporters would probably prefer a stronger opposition.
That could be UKIP next time round.

I'd rather the opposition was unelectable, than consisting of a cheap photocopy rip off. New Labour disgusted me, at least the Conservatives actually stand for something, it might be something I don't generally agree with, but its actually something.

New Labour were all about getting elected and staying in power, for its own sake. For me that's a very dangerous mentality, and ultimately UK service men and Iraqis paid a very high price (that we're still experiencing the fall out from).

I don't like The Conservative party, but I don't actually hate them. Where as I would join a queue to rape Tony Blair.

Anything happened about tax avoidance yet?

No fan of the Tories, and certainly do not like George Osborne, however to be fair the "Google Tax" is a step in the right direction. In conjunction with internationally coordinated similar laws, and the increasing number of bi-lateral agreements such as the UK/Swiss Tax Co-operation agreement the net is VERY slowly closing. Naturally lots more could be done but it is not fair to say that nothing has been done on tax avoidance. Certainly more has been done recently than Labour ever managed. Especially whilst Tony B-liar was sticking his millions offshore.
