So instead of something that makes people ill but brings in more tax than it costs to treat them, we're going to give them something for free which may or may not make them ill? Sounds like something New Labour would have cooked up. Obesity is the bigger issue and seeing as supermarkets are willing to take bold steps like banning Ribena (albeit not entirely altruistically) why can't the government force their hands when it comes to the pricing of veg vs junk food. That doesn't even need a subsidy although free fruit would be a far better idea than free e-cigs. Call me a fascist-socialist but I'd pay for a fat family's fruit and veg if it meant I could punish them for eating McDonalds. Edited by johnfirewall (21 Aug 2015 11.04am)
