You lot don't know how fortunate you were to be born in an affluent, stable, peaceful western country do you?
Yeah so fortunate that I get up at 4.30am each morning and work till 7pm just to keep my head above water, taking cr@p from morons who don't know their arses from their elbows. Let's not try and make out that we all live in huge Manor houses with servants and flash cars. What infuriates me the most is these patronising celebrities telling us to give money to people less fortunate than ourselves. If they all clubbed together and gave some of their vast fortunes then they would go a long way to helping these less fortunate people. No one chooses where they are born, so lets not wave that old stick. If we let these people in then we set a precedence, that anyone who stamps their feet and causes trouble can come here. We have enough of our own people living in poverty, so let's sort our own out.
We have no responsibility to these people what so ever. We all have our own problems and families to feed. I will not lose a seconds sleep over these people in Calais.
You could probably get your work done in fewer hours if you didn't post so much on here fella.
I'm contracted to work those hours.

Yeah, and my old man along with a lot of others sacrificed quite a lot to let us lot have this way of life. Also I did my bit in the army to try and add some small part to what a lot of those veteran's did, have you ?
What did you do in the army? I worked for five years in the court service, and that doesn't seem to count (despite being paid so poorly I got a pay rise when they introduced minimum wage).
I signed up at 16 as a boy, was in the 1st Battalion Queens Royal Surrey regiment, foot sloggers.
I've got a lot of respect for those who served (quite a few of my family at various turns have been in one or more ways associated with the military). Good career option, I work with a lot of ex-Service men (I'm actually training someone next week).

There are plenty of other European countries that will take them. Why should I care anyway? I have my own family to worry about. My son has just left school and is looking for unskilled work whilst at college, how is he going to do that if these migrants are flooding the unskilled labour market and driving wages down?

It's a prerequisite of being a lefty that you are middle class, completely ignorant and never happy.

One thing the Left always seem to ignore - they are in FRANCE. As a political asylum seeker, which I assume these people will claim to be, they MUST claim asylum in the first 'safe' country .
What war is happening in France?

That's incorrect, you claim asylum on arrival in the UK (or as soon as possible - some people find themselves in need of asylum as a result of changes in a country whilst they were away); not the first country you arrive in.
Personally, I'd rather have French citizenship in terms of welfare, than the UK but c'est la vie.
At least according to the .gov site detailing how to claim asylum in the UK.

This is correct. The French should take them. It's not our responsibility. France is a safe country and they can be catered for there.
