Van Dijk for me. However, Celtic might qualify for Champions League (won first leg last night), so he might want to see how that pans out first. Maybe we will have to wait until January and get a "filler" in the meantime : Coloccini if possible ? However, if Pards got the best out of him, may not need to look further for a couple of years.

Celtic were reported as saying Van Dijk will NOT be leaving until the qualifying rounds for the Champions League are completed. To me that suggests they are resigned to losing him but not until they have (hopefully for them) got through to the money bags stage of the competition. However, whilst the guy looks classy in the You Tube video I have seen him a couple of times on the television and he has made some complete howlers. Neither of those are much to go by though and people who see Celtic more often may be able to shed light on his real ability to play PL football. Just because he is Dutch, doing well in Scotland, playing in the Champions League and his club want 10m for him does not make him good for us.

Think you have valid points,james03. Also, SPL is not the same as EPL. So....I don't really know. Sure that Pards, Parrish etc...will sort it out. It is not like we haven't got reasonable CBs anyway that can do a decent job.Just see the need to bring in a bit higher quality to push on. What we have will achieve mid-table or top 10, I have no doubt. If we want 8th or above then we need a little adjustment.

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like. |

From what I've seen of Van djik he comes from the david Luiz school of defending , he is without doubt a talented footballer , but his positioning is suspect as is his concentration and decisions , he gets away with it generally in Scotland , will he in England? I'm not so sure , he will certainly have to improve to be a regular here from what I've seen , and would be a big risk. Would be nice if we could loan him for the season with a large loan fee and an option to turn it permanent.

I strongly believe that should Chelsea be successful in their approach for John Stones then Kurt Zouma would become available on loan. Mournino would play Stones ahead of Zouma as a way of 'showing off' his new signing and proving he was right to buy him. Plus, I noticed Cahill played in their recent pre season friendly. I reckon even offering Chelsea a fee to take him on a season long loan would be well worth it.

I think Daniel Agger is worth a look (won't happen though). Proven premier league centre half, was liverpool best in the position I think but just another one who slipped away under Brendan's Rodgers ludacris transfer dealings.

We can't sign two players on loan from the same Prem club. Zouma is not coming.
