That Corbyn, who has very little financial or organisational network around him, is doing so well speaks volumes for how stupid and out of touch with reality Labour supporters and Unions are....
Over here we've just had a General Election if you recall and socialism was given a huge thumbs down. However, if it makes you feel better and able to cope with a Conservative government for the next 5 years you think what you like sunbeam.

I'm not sure the Labour party, who did badly, can, at present, be described as socialist. Certainly not as left wing as I remember in the past. The SNP who probably had the most socialist of all the manifestos of the major parties did pretty well although Plaid Cymru, who also had quite a socialist manifesto, didn't do as well as they expected they would. All in all I have no idea what point I'm trying to make but just wanted to contribute

No. You just can't see that so called socailist policy flies in the face of reality most of the time.

I know Jeremy Corbyn personally and can vouch that he is a person of the highest integrity and principle. He is not in it for the money and does not indulge in personality politics. His mentor was Tony Benn and they were very close. Many people bemoaned the fact that the Labour Party went to the right with Blair and now there is very little to choose between New Labour and the modern Conservatives. If Corbyn continues to win suppoerters over or he brings back into the Labour fold the many thousands who left after Blair decided to join Bush and bomb the f**k out of Iraq despite overwhelming public opinion against another war, he may surprise the leading candidates. He has strong grass roots appeal and a long campaign will allow him to get round the constituencies while the other four battle it out among themselves as the best 'New Labour' leader. Sometimes being different is an advantage, as someone above noted about Bernie Sanders in the US.

If Corbyn gets the leadership, I can see TUSC not lasting much longer... Labour actually increased the amount of votes they got.

------ Regarding Bernie Sanders, he is being mostly ignored by the media for whom the narrative around him is that he's a socialist kook. Meanwhile, he's raising money like crazy from the grass roots; no where near Hillary's mega corporate donors, but still a lot for a small campaign like his. Fund-raising, in American politics, being a barometer of future success. The real difference, though, is the enthusiasm for his campaign stops. Where the major candidates (their glitzy announcements aside) are happy to get a few hundred people at campaign stops (some even happy to get enough to start a kick around), Sanders has been getting thousands, sometimes near tens of thousands. The sad reality, though, is that the money raised by the major candidates will have far more play in the final outcome than all the crowds that Bernie can raise. His only hope is to hit multiple home runs on the televised debates (something he is more than capable of doing), and that still will probably not be enough. Most likely, his value will be to drag Hillary's campaign to the left during the primaries, before she crabs back to the middle in the head-to-head. ------ Here's the NY Times on Sanders' crowds. A decent report, spoiled (IMHO) by the dig that people are only showing up to Sanders' events to prod Hillary, which is a silly concept and frankly insulting. I wouldn't be too proud of yourself. The fact that you are a member of a website run by aging men with schoolboy mentalities, and in one case a love of killing small animals for fun and another who doesn't even live in England, and which is frequented by left wing self important halfwits is nothing to shout about.
