I didn't mind May and Hammond, Evans can be a bit annoying, but at least he has some personality. Suzi Perry is usually alright on the MotoGP too. She stopped doing Moto GP 5 years ago! They'll need to make the show differently, which it doesn't sound like they're planning to do, as Evans works well with staff, not co-presenters. In terms of his knowledge of cars and screen presence, he's the right choice probably. Now show us the last 2-3 episodes that got pulled! I meant "was" not "is"! Serves me right for accessing the forum on my iPhone really! Lol

The chemistry of the three presenters is what made it work. For proof, just watch anything that they made solo (or even with just two of the three) and try to get to the end without putting pencils up your nose and slamming your head on the table. Without them, regardless of who will be the new presenters (and I make a special effort to avoid anything involving Chris Evans), it will be just a show about cars. And it will be boring as f*** because the cars on the old Top Gear were only there as fodder for the bickering interplay between the three curmudgeons. Indeed Top Gear was more about grumpy, fat, jacket and jeans wearing post menopausal men than it was the latest Ford Tippex. Clarkson was a nothing but a created cartoon who played to middle Englander stereotypes James May was the epitome of the Boys Own, tinker in sheds type Hammond was an annoying little cock who was desperately hanging onto his boyish charm It new incarnation will slowly wither and die.

I dunno, one thing that can be said about Chris Evans is that he's very good a presenting and characterizing a show and working well with an audience and co-presenters. It'll change, it'll probably gain and lose fans, on the basis of that change, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Apparently Evans is auditioning 'Joe Public' for a role/s. A clever move imo, fishing from a bigger pond. Personally i'd like to see Guy Martin on the show. As fast as you like, absolutely loves the 'technical side' and is as mad as your granny on her third sherry!

To use a football cliche - no one man's bigger than the club. Top Gear was around before Clarkson, May & Hammond got involved, and I'm sure will survive and prosper under Evans' watch. Personally I think it got a bit stale and needed a revamp anyway.

I've changed my mind about what I said earlier. I think the brand will survive and develop. It will have a line up of: Chris Evans - confirned And called 'Whacky Races'?

If anyone is in doubt that Clarkson is irreplaceable, take a look at the following link and think again. You can thank me later ;-)

Clarkson's formula took a dead show, and made it the most watched TV show worldwide. Chris Evans does not have anywhere close to the same cult of personality to have the same level of success.

Evans is a good pro but it is not a question of whether he can do a good job on Top Gear or not, it is more that Top Gear was Clarkson, May and Hammond. Richard Wilson was the only other presenter that stands out. I would imagine that they will start a rival show on another channel and viewers can vote with the remote controls.

You mean Quentin lol. They are doing a new show, it's all in the pipeline already, with the old producer too.

Yes I mean Quentin. Thank goodness you pointed that out. There might have been a planet wide crisis.
