Labour's problem in this election wasn't so much about their policies, it was about the delivery of their policies. I don't honestly think many voters really disagreed with for example the Mansion Tax, the bankers bonus tax the abolition of the Bedroom Tax, the problem was that these things were the only things they talked about. I agree completely. I would also add that they didnt even try and defend their record in government. They made it too easy for the tories to make it seem like they ruin the economy by just apologising for the deficit and the recession. They didnt slag off the tories time in office enough, they didnt bring up the fact that national debt has risen under the tories for instance, or the fact that pre crash, the deficit grew at a slower rate than it was under tories before or after them. They didn't twist statistics or scare people enough. All they did was talk about how the working class have been damaged by the tories, which is true, but they didnt appeal to the middle enough. Agree about the need for a new, young leader as well. A new blair doesnt have to be new labour, he/she just has to be media friendly and savvy enough to get votes.
