Its awful frankly - I feel uncomfortable that my club is part of the whole circus

Very mixed views on here... There'd be no guarantee that we'd be top 6 or even top half of the championship... Yes, I enjoy the derby games but every week in the Premier League is a big game with a global audience to boot... I hate all the fuss over tickets and stupid KO times but at the end of the day, I'll take all that for top flight football...

Premiership is bollocks. Teams like Chelsea & Man City are the reason football is going downhill. 2 mid-table clubs who quite literally bought success over night. At least Man Utd & Arsenal are there based on gradual sustained success.

Not sure if I'll renew my season ticket if we stay up. Good quality football for sure but over priced tickets, tourists galore, boring sterile bowl stadiums everywhere. I'd swap an away day at Yeovil over The Emirates any day.

Get me back to The Championship. Dog eat dog, can always get a ticket and we'll win the odd game. Who wants to be a Fulham or West Brom? No thanks.

In my opinion, the experience so far is not even as enjoyable as it was last time around and I think consideration of supporters is so far down the list of priorities that I am already considering other options.

It may bring in a fat cheque but the Premiership can tear the heart and soul out of the club if not managed properly. This plastic fantastic sheet is probably not for me... high prices/ terraces packed with fair weather football tourists/ inconsistent timing to suit the TV audience/ you can't get a ticket easily for mates or family/ not impressed with most of the squad since IH mugged a bus load of rejects returning from a bring and buy sale. (The game against Swansea last week showed just how far we have got to go to catch up.)

I go to watch football because I enjoy it but I am not enjoying it at Selhurst Park this season. Maybe the answer for me is to watch Palace on tv rather than live and spend my time and money supporting my local Conference South side? I'd recommend it to anyone for the experience.

Sorry, but that's how I feel.

Must say you sum up my feelings nicely.
My next "to do " this morning was check the non league fixtures and maybe find a game of footie to watch, in
a proper league. Even have a beer watching the game!!
Went to the Swans game last week, enjoyed it but it's such a non competitive league for us. Totally agree on the bus load of rejects, what a waste of good money some of them are, we look loads weaker than last season, panic buys.

would like it if we could compete, but doesn't look as though we are going to be able to. the championship is much more of a level playing field and probably more enjoyable.

Its not got the excitemnt of the championship and you cannot replicate being promoted via the playoffs in any other form, especially when you dispose of your main rivals along the way, which they will never ever get over and recover from. The premiership is absolutely pointless and has been ruined by the champions league which is a tournement including teams who are not champions and have no chance of winning it.
Football needs to burst and then it can return to an even kheel.

Seems you split right down the middle in to:
1/ I love the high profile nature of being their, the teams, the players and the money as opposed to;
2/ those who hate the 'plastic' nature of it and the move away from the 'old style' football club.

I appreciate I have simplified this a bit but I think you get the point.

To be honest I do respect both view points. Of course you would expect me to be in the first category. However, not just because Chelsea have benefitted from the change in football but because I remember the 'old days' and to be honest I have few nice nostalgic memories of those: the grounds without roofs, the violence, the lack of good football (yes lets be honest, there may have been great players but the football was poor compared to today); the fans treated poorly by the owners; the stadium not just poor but extremely dangerous etc

The premier league 'band wagon' gets bigger and better. Football is a business and ALWAYS has been. The very first owners organised a league because they saw profit in it. Fans had less say in the 'good old days' then today e.g. your present owners seem much more approachable then your previous ones??
Today Chelsea's world wide fan base has grown from 30 million to 300 million in just a few years. That changes the nature of the club and yes you get 'tourist fans' but thats the consequence of getting big. However I go every week and the core of supporters doesnt really change. There were no 'tourists' in the Chelsea end at Munich!!
I think in the end if you dont like the way footballs gone your view should be respected but the harsh truth is, 'jump on the band wagon and enjoy the excitement' or go watch non league (nothing wrong with that by the way).

The atmosphere at the Bridge was poor against Sunderland. After their goal, I think you started to turn on your own team somewhat. The only chants were KTBFFH, and Champions of Europe. Sung for 30 seconds each!

Atmosphere at matches differ. Night games can sometimes be more atmospheric. I have been to every ground in the premiership and most championship. They all vary in atmosphere depending on circumstances and oppposition.
Chelsea are no different to any other team. Never been in to 'these fans are better than those fans' nonsense. All a bit 'playground' really!
