Actually no, you seem to have conveniently (& probably deliberately) ignored the post. Let me just recap: We have our highest ever points tally at this stage of a Premier League season. Roy delivered our highest ever points tally in a Premier League season. He is the only manager to keep us comfortably clear of relegation since we came up. He is the only manager to have brought through academy players to Premier League football. 3 academy players to be precise. 2 very successfully. He has worked on a budget of next to nothing. He has the highest aged squad in the league. This has absolutely nothing to do with one game. The one game tonight, yes, we nicked it but so what? You have to nick games at all levels of professional football. As far as tonight goes, this was approached as a must not lose. And when you've lost 2 on the spin in very poor fashion and have the drum nonces down at the training ground fresh from the arts & craft shop - it was imperative we avoided defeat. And guess what? We did avoid defeat and we hung in long enough to nick it at the death. 3 points added to our total tally & I'll repeat - our highest ever points tally at this stage of a Premier League season. What winds me up is the hysteria & nonsense surrounding the whole affair. Roy has done a better job than anyone before him in the Premier League for us without any tantrums. And he deserves far more respect for his contribution than this. Edited by Mstrobez (22 Feb 2021 10.43pm) Very well said. Too many brainless berks on here who are quick with insults and abuse aimed at Hodgson but are completely oblivious to the reality of his achievements with the club. I just wish the site offered an 'ignore' facility so I don't have to wade through their whining sh*t everywhere.

We won, great. We're probably safe for another year, but we're set up like a first division side playing premiership opposition in a cup tie. 11 men behind the ball and counterattack. 25% possession is not good enough. My real fear is Roy not leaving at the end of the season but SP giving Benteke another contract because of that winner.

I have consistently lauded his achievements at keeping us in the PL season-on-season, with the 'Net Spend' during his time only £10 Mill which of course is a meagre amount in PL terms.

It was fantastic that we won tonight but come on let’s be honest it was a horrible watch & so easily could have gone the other way. If that was the case I wonder whether you would have posted the above. Also we could play this game 99 times over & we would lose most of them it’s very rare you will have 2 touches the whole game in the opposition’s box & score 2 goals. That style of football tonight was horrendous & not something I wish to continue watching. If Brighton had a striker they would have won this game comfortably. This is also not about 1 result this is about the style of football & the decline in results over a period of time. Please don’t let one big result against our rivals cloud you judgement. Don’t get me wrong I’m delighted with the win & pts total so far but just imagine where we could be if we delivered more frequent service like we did tonight with 2 crosses. Benteke just showed everyone that if he is given decent service he can still score the goals. Edited by dazza (23 Feb 2021 12.10am)

Edited by dazza (23 Feb 2021 12.10am) Anyone expecting Palace to win and to win prettily is probably supporting the wrong club. We've never exactly been a delight to watch over the years.

Anyone expecting Palace to win and to win prettily is probably supporting the wrong club. We've never exactly been a delight to watch over the years. This. We don’t have the players to do it (yet) We could play another way but with the state of our defence we’d get slapped even more. I have a growing feeling Howe will come in next season - if we invest sensibly and concentrate mainly on our defence and defensive midfield by injecting some youth and players that can run a bit faster than a slug we will have a base to build from that allows us to play a higher line, compete better with pressing and be able to recover from losing possession faster. This in turn will free up the attacking players from defensive duties more - unlike now where because our defence is so deep and so slow, our attackers have to drop and work twice as hard defensively as they should have to. We need new players more than we need a new manager. All that said I was not impressed with Roy in his post match interview ‘we played well’. No Roy. Edited by SW19 CPFC (23 Feb 2021 12.27am)
