The accusation is the team is either boring or to soft. It’s never, none of this matters as we are so good.
The only times fans are really happy is when the team wins often, how is never more than secondary . And it’s been my experience, that applies no matter which division you happen to be in.

That is your opinion but it does not apply to me or perhaps many others. To me it’s all about the performance. I have seen many games when Palace have lost and been happy about the performance and many games when we have won and not been happy. Those wins you are just grateful for.

Its clear some will be screaming Roy IN even when we are relegated. Thats missing the main points of the Roy OUT side: Our current position is mostly due to how other teams suck more than us - just look at the win vs losses. Now also look at the nature of the wins and how many had lady luck's hand in them. Now look at the losses and decide how many of those were in fact winnable games. Additionally look at the talent in our sqyad and see if its used to maximum effect under Roy. Then review your IN vs OUT disposition

Roy, is being totally realistic, in the independent today.. Not that he has ever not been . He stated from the start , of his tenure, that we needed to invest in the team ,if we were to progress .
He is constant, but unfortunately under investment in the team has remained constant also.

Less than a month ago Roy was quoted as saying that he was happy with the squad

How is that clear ?

And the rest of your post just re-states opinions repeated many times over on this thread.

A prime example for me this year was Tottenham game.

Before we equalised, I actually text my brother saying I was happy with how we played even if we did lose, plus Tottenham not a game you ‘expect’ points from.

That game for me was far more satisfying watching than most of our wins this season

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

And if he had said he wasn’t at that point , we could have given the players another excuse now. Because no manager says that he can not work with the squad.
This is totally different to thinking that squad could not improve .
He must be happy that squad can just about survive. And as that is all he is asked to do, saying he is happy with the squad is to be expected.

He didn't actually have to say anything

Well I can only offer opinion. I ,m a football man always have been
And all football is of interest to me .
That isn’t the point I was making though. I was actually referring to my recollections of negative fan response, whenever this club has not been winning most games played. Which incidentally applies to most other clubs I know of. The problem has always proved most notable when in the top division. I in no way say it isn’t a natural response, but losing is losing in football, only if you don’t do it to often does it matter how you do it.
The majority of managers get sacked for losing. And all to often, after playing what looked like great football in the Championship,. Only to find what was thought was great was really not in this division.

There appear to be two widely divergent views
- Hodgson is doing the best achievable with the resources at his disposal taking into account injuries, financial constraints, lack of board support and the limitations of certain players. We’ll miss him when he’s gone.
- Hodgson is a negative manager who seems to be sucking the energy out of the team and the club, is achieving the bare minimum from the available resources and is not getting the best out of the players or choosing appropriate tactics. We can’t wait to see the back of him.
The two views seem irreconcilable and could remain so for another 200 pages.

Well, I'd suggest there are three possible scenarios to play out:

a) We start picking up a load of W's and points, shooting up the table as a result of managerial masterclasses.

b) We continue seeing the performances we are accustomed to without Wilf and sometimes with him of late and end up getting relegated off the back of one of the worst runs we've ever witnessed (performance and results wise)

c) We limp over the line, or maybe even with some comfort survive the drop this season.

If hypothetical situations a) or b) play out there will be a hella lot of 'I told you so-s'. If it is to be c) then yes I think you're right. If RH's contract is extended it'll probably be more than another 200 pages, if it isn't there will still probably be some debate driven by whoever takes over and the following seasons performances and results.

I am actually insulted by being compared to Charlton fans and will now deal with a couple of Roy's points.
He states it's an achievement in itself to stay up. Eight years in it shouldn't be the objective. Targets go up incrementally every year in every business. As many have stated, an objective of staying up is just treading water. There has been no discernable year on year improvement at the club. Even our ambitions have not evolved. That's called stagnation in anyone's book.
The budget is an interesting point. We've just let Meyer go on a free. Firstly, why not a fee, he was certainly worth something? Even then, if we were never going to play him (Roy) why wait years? Why not get rid a year ago and save the wages.
Secondly, it is the wages that are a problem combined with poor management (not just Roy). However, Roy could have asked to be rid of some of the deadwood a while ago. He was never going to play certain players and others are permanently injured. We have spent more on wasted wages than we have on transfers. It's why we never have any money. Wickham for example. Play or go, not renew contract. Roy could have simply asked seasons ago that certain players were sold, or released. One has to suspect a manager would be listened to. Roy's as culpable for this as anyone else.
Also Roy, and all your mates and supporters, why pick Benteke all of the time? Nobody else would, or would they? I doubt it. That's on you Roy.
The style of play, no shots, no entries to the box, the fitness training, that's on you Roy. The injuries are on you Roy, your idea of rotation is play the crap players in the two Cup games we get in a season. You must have taken a leaf out of early eighties Villa - who used 12 players to win the league. The news Roy, however, is it's 2021. Squads rotate or die: in fact they even use their own youth sometimes. Despite various sycophants saying they're crap our youngsters are plenty better than many of our first team. But I guess they're not favourites.
When someone is sh1t Roy, you drop them. You don't just play the same over and over again. Competition for places. Does not exist in our club, Roy. Who is that on? - oh yes the manager.
When we stay up take the accolades that you seem to need and avoid the criticism you seem unable to take.
Don't ever f***ing equate us to Charlton again, you're out of order in my book. Stop making your f***ing excuses and do something. You're the f***ing boss, own the problems. Solve the problems. Instead you deflect, this fault, that fault.
And please God go at the end of this season or earlier. I'll always support Palace but I'm going to need the Samaritans if your contract is renewed. So will plenty of others.
