A link to the off-shore wind possibilities.

Even I am surprised you are being as gullible as this Steely.

New industry? Where have you been they have been shutting down coal mines for years.

There is enough off-shore wind in Cumbria to run the country it is boundless.

How will the new coal mine get its energy.

Solar powered.

The mines were closed because they were state run and losing absolute fortunes.
It was cheaper to ship coal in than dig it out ourselves.
With the correct filtration coal power can be a lot cleaner and efficient and somewhat safer to get out of the ground.
Not totally but miners choose their career.
That is probably why it is back on the table.

I don't get why Labour is so keen to get into bed with the SNP and let them have another referendum in return for their support, it's very short sighted.

There are 59 Westminster seats in Scotland at the last GE the SNP won 35, Tories 13, Lib Dems 4 and Labour 7.

It was a bit of a freak result for the Tories and a really bad one for Labour.

The seats in Scotland historically swing between SNP and Labour. If the SNP get their independence then that takes 59 seats out of the equation a far bigger potential loss for Labour than the Tories. Even if Labour don't increase their vote the SNP won't side with the Tories so no downside for Labour.

I know it's coming up to Christmas but Turkey's voting and all that?

If Scotland gets its independence then all bets are off over the future of politics in England. I for one would never forgive the party under whose watch such an event is allowed to happen. Right now that looks to be the ultimate destination for the Brexit fiasco for which the Tories bear the largest share of the blame, although ineptitude by Corbyn and those in Labour who devised their system of electing a leader also share some. We so need a revolutionary change to our party system. It is not fit for the 21st century.

Have you not heard about the EU army plans....or does that not fit with your pro EU agenda...when our kids get called up and sent to war, your grandchildren too !!

I have heard the bs about them! Go back 100 pages or so and you will read that this is simply another batch of scare mongering by the anti EU brigade.

There are NO such plans. Greater co-operation over sourcing and standards, yes. Joint exercises, yes. Acting together when required, yes. One overall army under a single command, never.

OK, that's a deal, although I doubt whether either of us will be alive to witness it.

Do some proper research on this before you comment again. I promise you it's complete bs.
