I don't think anyone thinks he's rubbish. Especially 18/19 season. Currently equal 3rd best defence in the league Edited by si_1967 (09 Oct 2019 12.43pm) My beef was with quite a number of posters who did say WH was a rubbish keeper. I have insisted he wasn't and suffered some pretty vile personal insults on here for saying so. I have noted that a lot of posts on this thread are now acknowledging the fact that he isn't a bad keeper after all even if they think VG is the better keeper. I do understand that the man currently in command stays there unless he suffers a dramatic loss of form or suffers an injury. It's good to know we have a capable back up keeper as some of those saves shown were top class and should show that. Only those with closed minds won't acknowledge that fact. One fact you mentioned is that Guiata is currently operating behind the 3rd best defence in the league. A luxury that WH has never experienced.

No, Guita is currently part of the 3rd best defence in the league, something which WH never achieved. You’re not suggesting a back four of Ward, Kelly, Cahill and PVA is the best we’ve had in the past 5 years, I’m sure.

There is the argument of course that could be advanced propounding the opinion that it is the 3rd best defence because of a part played by Guaita in thwarting opposition attacks. In my humble opinion, Guaita is deserving of wearing the gloves at the present time and that Hennessey is not as dire and abject as many had suggested on HOL.Perhaps on occasions knee-jerk reactions and emotions came into play after a defeat when Hennessey was not at his best. Are you trying to suggest we are only where we are due to one man. Seems so as you seem to dismiss the fact that Ward, Kelly, Cahill and PVA have anything to do with it.

Exactly Willo just like this forum did when we lost tp Spurs. There was a post (NOT by me) that said the defending was bad and even VG was rubbish. Edited by PZ Eagle (09 Oct 2019 3.00pm)

I’m not trying to suggest that at all - that would be as nonsensical as your original point. Do you think Ward, Kelly, Cahill and PVA is the best back four in the last 5 years? If the answer is no, the notion that Guita benefits from something Hennessey never did doesn’t hold up.

They have not been our back four all season long, and besides it's not always only down to the back four. The midfielders are also part of the defence.

Very true, it’s not always only down to the back four... do you know who else is also part of the defence... the bloody goalkeeper! You’re tying yourself in knots here mate.

No I'm not it's you being pedantic. I can distinctly remember on the long WH thread when I pointed out he'd had a good game people used to say "Nah it's down to the defence in front of him" which is exactly my point The inclusion of Cahill has made all the difference and the defence in front of VG is giving him an easier ride overall. If you are still insisting you are right

If you are still insisting you are right Your inability to process basic logic is quite something - what someone else said, on another thread, is of no concern to me; they could have been wrong, the same way you are here. Anyway, you’re clearly willing to die on this particular hill, so I’ll leave you to it - it’s really not difficult to see that Guita is a considerably better keeper though.
